Well, I 'm happy the latest video clip of Tiny leaving the nest is on line - I just missed it by an hour and missed the last days here ... Thanks to everyone for the screenshots and the messages, so those of us not able to watch could read and see. Hope Klaara and Klaus & Co. will be safe and - deep breath - hope to meet here again in a year from now!

I read that owl parents defend their children and when it is necessary they attack human beeings. they have claws like needles as you can see at the two owls sitting in the whole. I think it is more dangerous for people than for the chicks.

Can't send myself to bed. Sitting and looking at the empty nest, waiting for something. I already miss them so much

Yeah, Tawny owls may get very unhappy about people approaching their nesting site. And unlike many other species attacking intruders, the owls actually do strike with their talons. So I don't think that some tourists will do any harm to the owlets. Approaching the owlets too close would not be a very wise decision...They will not try it again after loosing (at least) some tufts of hair due to an angry Klaara :D .

I also miss them very much. in german we say jeder abschied ist ein bisschen wie sterben that means: each goodbye is a little bit like dying. when I have this sad feeling I look at the picture of the two owlets sitting in the entrance and waiting for an exciting life. that makes me happy and deeply grateful for the possibility to take part in a short time of their life.

Isn't it wonderful that we had the chance and the capacity to be touched by these beautiful little owls.

I am rather late to think of this (it came to me in the night!)
but are there any members who would like to write a brief summary of the Tawny Owl webcam experience?
Maybe several members who could summarise a week each?

Date of first egg. Date of first hatch and subsequent chicks.
Type of food.
First time alone in the nest, and so on.
Any interesting things about Klaara, Klaus and members? :gathering:

It may help present and new members next year if there is a comparison, to help us to know what to expect and what is different - if there will be an owl cam next year.
What do you think?

Camtime 01.00. A bird is singing near Klaara's place. It could be a nightingale
singing the first year, it is not yet perfect but the bird is trying hard. maybe it is the Estonian language..
It is very moving...instead of Klaara and the branchers now a real singing bird...
Wish you all a good night!

Listing a bit longer I'm almost sure: it is a nightingale..

Wouldn't it be difficult for a duck to get up the hole? Nevertheless, it is interesting to watch who visits the nest now it has been deserted. Althought... the young owls may come back from time to time, to have a look or to spend days there... I must open the cam from time to time.
The leds, I think, work only during night now. During days they are off.

She must make sure there really is no chick inside :D

I am willing to make a summary of one week, but it will not be soon. And I am not a good writer, especially in English, so it will not be too epic
