Note: In the YT-chat, the broadcast of the documentation "Mazie ērgļi Latvijā" is announced, Latvian TV, today at 17:00 .

For everybody outside Latvia or, in case you've overlooked it: there is also an English/subtitled version available - on the YT-LDF-channel, s. here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpwMcpFTc5M&t=816s

You will see many living beings whom you already might know or have heard about - either winged or two-legged. Enjoy!

17:59: Andris with a rodent (this pic is taken in slo-mo, the pic is ... - quick-quick and view blocked.)

Image

Andris takes up the branch he brought previously and carries it to the rim.

Image

Anna is not content with his choice of placement.

She picks up the complicated branch and deposits it at the pantry.

Image

18:04: Anna flies over to the obs.trees and returns at 18:09 with a spruce twig.

From 18:12 -25 :D

Image

(Then something itches and she drops her pine-"lollipop".)

Thank you Baiba! :D
Your sound is much much better than what I get from my laptop (same brand as Liz' laptop, she had written about the sound quality, but I don't remember in which thread). The variety of Anna's trills and other sounds is far better perceivable in your video.

11:56: Andris with a rodent.

And unlike what Anna usually does (I just posted something about the LSE Zemgale habits in the Estonian LSE thread :whistling: ): this time she takes the food and flies over to the obs. trees.

Egg time for Andris!

Image

Let's see if he will more than 5 minutes on the eggs ...

Yes, indeed! Andris is busy with preening and sunbathing and just taking a nice rest on the nest.

12:11: Anna had been signalling with calls since around 12:08, that she will return soon. Which she does with a juicy pine twig in her beak.

Image

15 minutes for Andris - a Sunday present.

15:36: Andris with a rodent. Anna takes it and flies away with it. - Wait: Again???

Just when you think you have discovered a pattern, it falls into pieces. Andris will have 23 (!) minutes for preening, resting and nestaurating here and there. Anna signals from time to time that she is in the area (short calls).

16:18: Prey no.6: Andris with a rodent.

Image

19:58: No. 7 - a rodent.

Image

Anna leaves from a place she rarely uses - the branch at the left and flies away. She has swallowed the prey on the nest.

Andris enjoys the rest in the nest bowl:

Image

20:19: Anna returns with a fresh pine twig, she trills - and Andris has to leave.

Image

The pine looks like barbed wire - an aromatic fence.

Image

- There are some interesting alterations today. Three times Anna takes some time off, so to speak, which means: 15, 23 and 20 minutes for Andris: covering the eggs, resting etc.

Good morning!
Thank you Baiba  for the video! :D

08:17: Andris with a dark-furred rodent which might be a rat.
Anna leaves - egg- and nest-time for Andris.

Image

He's resting, napping, etc. ...

Image

08:48: ... until Anna returns with a leaf twig - poplar, I think. She had been signalling her presence in the area with calls from time to time. 30 mins for Andris!

The afternoon has been pretty boring for Anna. At 16:57, she flies over to the obs. trees. At 16:59, you can hear her call. She is not amused. Anna rushes back to the nest. And here's what annoyed her:

Image

If you scroll back, the follower is seen from 16:59:47 on. In a swoosh, the stranger passes the nest, diving down at the left.- It doesn't look like a goshawk to me, it looks as big as Anna. ??? Any idea?

I think Anna got the prey outside the nest, Anna has a long neck. I think Andris flew past the nest

Thank you Baiba for the GIF!

Good idea! I didn't even think about Andris! I would have expected him to either fly to the nest or, at least, branch at the left. Anna sounded so upset in my ears. (But perhaps this is what a little dispute/disagreement among Lesser Spotted Eagles sounds like ...)
