Something else, i have observed, and i need your help to identify what it was
but first i'd like to insert 6 pictures.....

19:45 on the right a bird came out of the forest flying to the right, the ospret on the right noticed it. I just saw something white and first thought on a WTE, someone had mentioned a few days ago
...
then i thought, no, it's too small for a WTE
I saw, too, a non-osprey bird flying over a day or two ago. Fingers crossed, that it wasn't a goshawk :slap:

Tell me this is not a goshawk! :slap:

I saw a WTE some days ago flying by in the background. I mentioned it here.
The picture above seemes to show a woodpidgeon, I think.

Chicks are tearing the fish from Iiris' claws

21:08

Ah, it was you, leonia, who mentioned the WTE days ago, i didn't remember who it was.
A woodpigeon you think, thank you very much. I just "googled it", yes, that could it be well.
So, i'm glad it was no threat for our ospreys.

Thank you ExpertOfNothing!
I have seen a long time today, that there are several fish tails lying on the nest floor - even if I have had my display on, I have missed also several deliveries. And I think the chicks are really satisfied today, even if Iiris hasn't fed them many times

No, Owlie, we can be glad, fortunately this time it was no goshawk and no WTE.
I saw the video of the goshawk attack on the other Estonian osprey nest, it was so cruel.
Sending out prayers that he will not come back and also not discover "our" nest here.

:hi: ExpertOfNothing

It is very seldom we have seen several preys lying on osprey nests - it is rather usual at WTE nests (as well as the flies and bugs, too, the pic from a Bald Eagle nest  )

Image,

but my experience of ospreys is that they eat and clean the nest quite soon and thoroughly after deliveries.

Iiris in with an evening snack, which one of the chicks immediately claims for itself

Freddie, thanks for the video.
Although Owlie already described it wonderfully, watching it in the video is great.
That was priceless. UN worked hard, that was a challenge for her. Poor fish had a long fight for his life.

21:29 Iiris in with beheaded fish (what was left of 21:01 fish). Tench have leathery skin but kids can handle it perfectly.
All the osprets went flat suddenly.
Beautiful sunset making the nature reddish-pinkish-lilac.

21:40 The nest is now full of half-eaten fish, not only fish tails! The parents bring more than they can eat! 8-)

Ivo in with a little but fresh fish! They drown in food in this nest today! :faint:

UP is still working on her previous fish, the one Ivo delivered lies there untouched so far ...
UP finished her previous fish. The one Ivo delivered is still untouched and the chicks have other businesses in their minds ...

These three chicks were very entertaining for us watching, and quickly learning new skills, for them.

UN takes now care of the fish tail UP left, which has quite much to eat still. The smaller whole one Ivo delivered is still untouched so far ...

The nest looks more and more like a WTE nest with a food store on the food store

The Cleaning Service Company Crows & Ravens might be interested to step in to service ...

(In Latvia chez Perkons & Lauma 2014 ravens were very keen to clean the nest the time chicks had already fledged but were nonchalant with table manners. Some interesting "discussions" between the osprets and ravens were seen.)

And the osprets' space in the nest is becoming smaller and smaller.
Who put all those branches in the middle of the nest ?

Just wait until the osprets fledge - the nest will soon look more like an airfield

Both parents fly in and Ivo delivers a headless fish, both parents fly also out though, the fish in the nest and UP claims it

12:41-12:42
Iiris arrives again

12:47-12:48
Alarm, Iiris takes off and the osprets lie flat

12:52-12:53
UM steals the fish from UP, who protests in vain, UP's breast is all in blood from the fish.

12:59-13:00
Iiris flies in with a whole fish. UN and UP are not hungry and UM is eating the fish he stole from UP. Iiris eats by herself

about 13:08
UP wants to be fed. Iiris offers morsels to UN as well. UP has some fish morsels on her back

It looks like there would still lie an uneaten fish on the left part of the nest ...

13:20
Iiris flew off with alarm and the osprets lie flat

around 13:30
It looks like UP and UN would have found the fish on the left and UN is eating it.

There was again an alarm and UN gave up the fish. Later UP started to work on that fish.
