I hadn't really expected him back for the evening. Not a bad sign if he stays for the night.

20:39 night vision

Image

He reacted to the night vision. But it probably doesn't bother him.

But this black stork sounds special when it sings. Don't you think?
If I didn't know otherwise, I would think it was a female. Sounds strange!

It is confusing.

Maybe it IS a female, after all? Who can say for sure that it’s a male, at this point?
In some of the pictures you posted, s/he also looks rather female.
Female BS have a slightly different body shape than males, in my opinion. They look a tad less broad at the shoulders/chest. They are a bit ‘rounder’. Especially the belly area looks a bit more curved, a bit softer. This is best seen when they are standing relaxed on the nest.

Have a good night

Female BS are silent and this one has been singing a lot. So it should be a male.

I guess it can be a female. Because of her singing and her appearance - she's too cute for a male. :D
And I'm also a little surprised how well she knows all the features of the nest - ''the balcony'', ''the veranda'', and Urmas's ropes... It seems like she's not exploring, but just recollecting...

Hello asteria :hi:
It is always said that only males sing.
Tiina also sang. It was 2014 when Tiit didn't come, I think. The song doesn't sound like a male, he knows what he wants.

So let's observe what else happens. Perhaps this black stork is just unmusical and has no sense of harmonious sounds. :whistling:

Well convinced. He is probably a black stork with no sense of harmonious sounds.

He got a fright. But I can't see anything.

Long singing
I don't know if it is the same black stork with the stripe on his right shoulder or if other black storks can have similar feathers on the shoulder.
Maybe he was here last year. Or maybe not?
