The smallest of the group is always delightfully agile and fast. He quickly moves past his siblings, no matter where Mona wanders with the food.




The foot is briefly visible again before Mona swallows it and covers the chicks.

20:58 Miks brings food, and Mona goes back into defensive mode.


In fact, at least two of the three chicks crawl toward their mother (Mini is on the right), and Mona feeds until 21:03.


Then she leaves the nest and returns two minutes later with a half-dry pine branch.

While the hawklets in Riga are thriving exceptionally well and are equally vital and strong, here we have the little straggler. In my opinion, he's not "out of the woods" yet.

Mini is bold and tough. He knows how to sneak through feedings and is the only one who grabs the carcass on his own. He already does.

However, he's tiny compared to his siblings and he still has a few days to catch up with. And let's hope his siblings don't oppress him. So far, everything's been very balanced.
