hello, Swenja. We also have a heat of +34 this is an anomaly... :slap: ..., but no thunder...The storks and I could use some cool air...

15:20:59, 15:21:22 thunder again... We call it "dry thunderstorm ".
15: 23: 14 the wind has increased, thunder is thundering.

Our storks were promised a cloudy sky and short-term rain by the evening.... waiting for.

The chicks soon no longer fit into the picture. They are so big when they stand.

I'm so glad that Kaia brought her chicks a good meal! :2thumbsup:

The chicks are still alone on the nest.

A very tiny PS. The chicks could use some more food, I think.

Hopefully Karl II will arrive soon, with lots of food!

I have troubles with my internet connection :bash:

17:17 It is very hot on the nest. Thunder can be heard.
But still no rain!

AccuWeather says it is currently (17:30) 30°C in Karula. Real Feel 32°C.

17:31 A cuckoo calls. The sun is shining again.
The wing feathers grow nicely...

Do not worry! There are still 3 chicks on the nest. :D

18:21:10 Karl II comes  feeding time!
It looked like fish but it happened so quickly! :puzzled: Food doesn't even fall to the ground. :D
# 3 saves the food from falling down.

Well done # 3!

Thank you, too, Swenja!

I made these pictures of the feeding. I can’t see what came out of Karl II’s beak.
But I think it wasn’t a lot of food.
During this feeding, Karl II was again standing on the foot of one of his chicks.

Image

I don't know if the chick was able to grab something on the nest floor.

21:47:19 # 3 very often just does ps while sitting in the nest.
That's why it's so dirty on the bottom.

Image

8-) You have to get up before you do.

Image

It doesn't seem that hot now. The chicks are very calm today evening.

Many thanks, Swenja and Tatiana

OrniTrack information.

Today Karl II flew 90.4 km.
He visited about 7 or 8 different feeding sites.
(I find it a bit worrisome that apparently he could not catch more food in spite of this.)

The furthest Karl II was from the nest today was 18 km, in the morning.

At the last known location (22:37) he was about 4 km from the nest, near a patch of trees, 200 metres from a watercourse. It seems to be an uncultivated patch of land, perhaps it is a marshy area. But we know that Google displays a momentary view (of a past situation).

Good night, everyone.

 :offtobed:

Edit: AccuWeather says that it is currently (23:00) 27°C in Karula. And the Real Feel is 30°C. Still hot!
Current humidity: 78%

Thank you @Anne7

It urgently needs extensive rain and slightly cooler temperatures.
The waters are warmed up and the prey in the wetlands hide in the heat.
Even if it's not worrying at the moment, you still make your thoughts.

Yes, it is unusually and excessively hot at the moment, and far too dry.
We can only hope that things will improve soon, Swenja.
Although the situation is not alarming yet, the chicks need more food than they are currently getting, in my opinion.

I am very impressed that Kaia managed to bring more food today than Karl II.
I never expected this to happen.
Kaia is really a fantastic Black Stork too. :2thumbsup:

I cross my fingers for this wonderful family. And for all other BS in Estonia.
