22:36 UN and UP sleeping - mysterious "blue-hour" light - first night without UM on nest

Actually, this night (from 25 to 26 July) was the second night without UM on the nest already. He is a big and independent boy now

This climate crisis is not good.

Cessie, it is awful, indeed... +42 degrees yesterday in Belgium..

Iiris came with a large tree bark. Seconds later, also UM rushed to the nest.

poor UM grabbed the stick on the nest instead of the fish in all the hassle He managed to get hold of the fish anyway.

UP starts eating right away, Iiris jumps from the camstand onto the nest and tries to grab the fish but UP is pecking her and mantling the food.

Indeed, Iiris's wings are most beautiful. I had to laugh when i saw that one nail of UP
i have a feeling as if she will do it today......

The mothers have a hard time when the children reach this age. Luckily, Iiris has very good nerves and stays cool


13:34 UM kept close to UP and her fish, waiting if she would share it, but UP was determined not to share with UM. UN after preening laid down, snoozing.
UP laid down, too, the eyes always on the fish, and -hahaha- took the opportunity, when he discovered a gut between the sticks.

Very slowly and secretly he pulled the gut out with his beak


Shortly after he managed to take the fishtail. UP was complaining only briefly and UM was happily eating that fishtail.

Big thanks to all for pics and comments, that I have read every night

I see now UP and UN on the nest, chirping every now and then, UM was there a while ago but left. I am thinking that if it is so that UM=Smallie, UP=Oldie and UN=Middlie - we have two ones waiting for fledging and they both have hatched maybe within 24 hours, can we await that they also fledge during the same day? UM is very much ahead in development, as the two still hesitate before rising on their wings.

Ivo delivered a big fish, UP claimed it. Also UM flew in. The shy UN is looking gently at the prey ...

Somehow UP got the fish stuck in a stick. Trouble over.

UN picks up some morsels from the nest floor and is approaching UP ... UN seems to be hungry, to me. UM doesn't seem to be so hungry, he just balances on the nest rails and exercises his skills.

I wonder whether it was UN who claimed the fish?

A delivery at 17:05 from Iiris.

UM gets it but a moment after Iiris leaves, the fish slips out of UM´s grip, over the edge and falls to the ground.
Soon after Ivo delivers another fish. 17:12

It was very quick, both parents were there, I think Iiris is still on the nest with a fresh fish. UP is self feeding of the previous fish and UN being fed by Iiris? UM looking at the skies on the nest rim
