We had a video in every years when storklets was in the nest for the last time.
I hope they will return tomorrow
You're welcome. :)
I don't think that this was the departure to the south. Can't believe they would start in the evening in bad weather. I hope also for a return tomorrow, so that we can get the video of their great start.

Hello together
Certainly not they will leave already Latvia !
They need to stay at least another two weeks. After they have learnt how to hunt for food, they will have to learn skillfulness in flying and learn how to take advantage of the thermal.
And then they can start to learn how to sail and how to save their energy that they are capable to stand the long, long journey to Africa.

You can compare the transmitters of Mr Mid and Ziluka.
The first fledging was on July 26. (here on July 14.)
Miss Little and Mr Mid finally left the nest on August 14. and began the migration on August 15.
Mr Mid was in Latvia on August 16.

Thank you for the nice old video, Macko! Donnas and Padis' babies ... I've read their story, puuuh ... They have become a legend here in the forum, so my feelings.
You have seen a lot of Black Storks and their babies, coming and going, with all the exciting events, that had happend over the years.
I'm sure, we haven't seen Ziluks and Ziluka for the last time. They will come back, as Baska said, and we will get the final video.
The transmitter that Miss Mid has gotten (she was a female, this turned out later, and was renamed from Mr. Mid to Miss Mid :) ), is - comparing to Ziluka's - really big. I'm so glad that nowadays these instruments are much smaller.

Baska , do you think while the storklets are learning all the important things, we will see them still in the nest? Or will they leave the nest soon and stay always outside til the great journey begins?

Good morning
Not returned yet ....
Hello Michi
we never know ..... Depends if they find friends outside and they prefer to stay always with them.
Those groups of young storks are flying aroung in the nearer and farther region.
