Black Stork nest in Portugal

She! at 10:46 she returns. She checks the nest bottom and takes care of the eggs and he is standing beside her on the branches

at 10:54 she bended down on the eggs, he is standing there close to the nest



Good morning, my Lady!

at 11:13 She turned eggs, then back to on them. Wind is blowing.

[Olga]

And again at 11:32 she stood up turned eggs, sat down.

[Olga]

He came to visit! at 11:53. I didn't see if there was mating, propably not. Only greeting and rolling of eggs by she (fraps was taking pics every 20 second). everything well.

This is what I saw at 11:53-11:56:

An express visite at 12:06 by him. I got a shadow of him.

After 12:06 she was sitting on eggs.

At 13:03 he came to visit ther again. They seemed lively.. She also put moss and sticks better. Soon he had disappeared from the view. She continued incubating.

She was sitting on eggs in the afternoon.

She contnued sitting on eggs in the afternoon. At 13:40 he returned again in the view and on the nest. He made some kind 'ritual'-like or 'warning'-like (? nervous, exited?) expressions with his head, moved his neck and beak up and down and sideways. He was standing on the nest, and she was standing too. The eggs were seen about 8 minutes. She continued sitting on eggs.. He walked out of the nest 13:48.

She was sitting normally. At 14:46 she stood up to turn eggs. Now the the cam was zoomed to eggs - what is the black 'spot' on one of the eggs?? Moss? or..

What has happened? The cam is zoomed to eggs when she turns them at 15:25
At 15:25 the egg with black spot seems as if to have got a hole?? no, no..

It must be just a piece of wet moss, it is dirty! Who can tell if its true or not?

Incubation continues. The eggs were seen three times after my previous post:

at 16:56, she was again turning the eggs.. is there the spot or is there not?

Sitting on eggs, and after 24 minutes up! And turning eggs. There seems to be any problem to worry!

The evening has been calm. She incubated till 18:42.

He returned about at 18:43, and stayed on the nest, when she left, hungry and thirsty, i suppose. Eggs do not emerge from 'nothing'.

Last time she turned eggs, and/or knocked the bottom of the moss bed at 18:37.

He has turned eggs three times: at 18:57, at 19:36 and 19:59. It was nice to watch how carefully he handled with beak the moss around and under the eggs. They have everything all right: love and work, a life full of meaning, together!

- I didn't see if they mated today, nor did i see if the mother has returned to the nest for the night. It's dark now.

Good morning April the 1st
Beautiful weather.

The male Black Stork is incubating at 8:43. He has turned eggs three times in the morning, at 8:02 and 8:21 and third time at 8:46!

I saw the female Black Stork eyesterday evening at 18:37.

[Olga]

She returned home at 9:12. Since then the male Black Stork has brought 14 times more moss, hay and branches. They keep on rearranging the nes for the future. Together they constructed the biggest safety brances to the egde side of the nest.

When writing this I saw he returned for 15th time, with more moss!
It's 10:05. Everything all right

He goes on bringing gifts, moss etc.. She is hurry to put everything in order. He helps. They co-operate perfectly.

I can't count anymore how many times he has gone back and forth.

For the moment she is incubating, he is standing some seconds after the 20th time's return, and he left again at 10:22.

at 10:24 he is back again. He continues reconstring the dangerous side of the nest. She keeps on her duties.

While I wrote this post, he returned once again! And works with the same side of the nest more strong.. Good father, good mother.

It's 16:21 and she has been more than six hours without water and anything to eat.. poor of her. It must be a hot day. She has kept her wings half open while incuating.

She has kept the eggs and moss fresh, made holes and made the nest airy. I see from my pic-folder that she has been up at least for eight timeas after 10:38!
