Do ospreys feed their offspring outside the home nest after that they fledged? I know that some birds can feed chicks on the ground when chicks have fallen out from the nest before their fledging.

I see a fresh fish and a chick mantling over it ... and leaving the fresh one for an old fish tail - or, no! Is are there TWO freshly delivered fish?
Maggy, were you watching - my net connection is lousy and it takes an eternity to get on a Pontu pic - you maybe know the latest delivery history?

Yes, I've been watching, it was unexpected that Snurre would attack Pērkons, she was very aggressive, Pērkons was taking steps back till he came to the rim of the nest, then he left...Owlie wrote:Maggy, were you watching - my net connection is lousy and it takes an eternity to get on a Pontu pic - you maybe know the latest delivery history?

20:18 Snaps comes

and then Snips right after that, Snurre is protecting the fish from them
20:19 Snaps starts eating the fish tale that Snurre left, Snips sits on the rim of the nest and calling, looks like he is afraid of his feisty sisters
20:20 Snurre leaves, she had enough
20:21-22 Snaps keeps eating her fish tale, Snips keeps calling but doesn't get to the left by Snurre fish
20:23 Snaps gets to the big fish that Snurre left, Snips keeps calling
20:28 Snurre comes back, Snips still stays away

Snurre looks at her fish, Snaps goes away from it, now Snurre is an aggressive boss of the nest
20:29 nobody is near the fish being afraid of Snurre

The main rule is that the parents, most of the time the male, sometimes the female too, bring fish to the nest. However, there are plenty of cases where fish was handed over at other places as well; on favourite perches etc. A few years ago -if memory doesn't fail on me here- Lady of the Loch of the Lowes-nest fed a fledgling off the nest for a few days. That chick had accidentally fledged and didn't manage to come back straight away.Owlie wrote:Btw @ Kukelke or any other wise wo-/man

I rely on you, you have so often turned out to be the one being right, knowing. Your osprey interest is impressive and you have gathered much more information and knowledge than the majority of us. At least I am happy to have you on these threads.Kukelke wrote: ---

Snips is hungry, I mean HUNGRY! Maybe he ate nothing on his weekend tour ... (he perhaps attended an osprey youngsters' summer festival). So happy that the fish delivery works for all them!

Snips had been waiting till everybody left the fish along, Snurre was still around looking away, then he got to the fish and Snurre looked at himOwlie wrote: Snips is hungry, I mean HUNGRY! I think he doesn't want to fight his sisters for fish, he waits and calls, the sisters are feisty, especially Snurre
20:29 here Snurre looks at Snips while girls are already done with the fish

20:34 Snurre leaves while Snips is eating

But if he was away all the morning so he had to have a long hunger? - Anyway he finished eating just after 21 o'clock ... and left an half uneaten fresh fish to the next hungry one.

21:08
A parent flies in curiously looking at the fish - but no chance, Pērkons or Lauma, here comes Snurre, hungry - and so is the parent out of the nest! And 21:10 even Snips comes in again discussing the dinner or something else interesting ... He gives up and flies off.

Good evening,
I am a little late.
Violent aggression of Snurre against Lauma who is in the obligation to fly away.

Thanks, Pinkeluza, I opened the cam just after this episode so it was good to see this - not late at all!PINKELUZA wrote: ... Violent aggression of Snurre against Perkons who is in the obligation to fly away. ...
Do the chicks have to learn aggression towards other ospreys by attacking their own parents?
The WTEs do this - is it similar with ospreys? I don't remember having seen this in other nests the past two years I have followed ospreys.
