Hello all

Thanks Anne for good map images !

It's a bit strange that Karl does not have a new updates, not even today.
Is the weather still bad there? But hopefully he's ok!

Anne, thank you for Karula's map.
I hope Karl's transmitter is defective and he is already on the doorstep
We should not watch the Birmap, we should focus on the nest. :innocent:
Hopefully we will know soon what's going on. I do not think he's still there.

Yes, Liz, maybe it is a problem with the transmitter.
This hope always pops up when we worry.
I agree, Karl is most probably no longer at that location in Syria, now.

You're welcome, Treia.

The problem is that we don't know where Karl is at the moment.
Although there were regular thunderstorms and showers in that region (and still are), it would surprise me that the weather was so awful that he would still be hiding near Akkari in Syria (or somewhere else in Syria).
Under normal circumstances, he could - or should - already be (at least) near Istanbul today.
It worries me that we did not receive any signals from Karl for 4 days.
1 or 2 days without a new update above Syria is quite normal, but 4?

Here is a pic from today's weather in the region (at 14:00).
It shows the wind direction (SW), the rainfall (3 hours accumulation) and the thunderstorms.
Image

Edit: and this is the current weather in Turkey (today at 17:00)
The different colours indicate the amount of precipitation.
When (if) Karl has passed Karaman or Konya, it is dry again.
But a northern wind blows in that part of the country.

Let's hope for the best. Maybe there will be an update later today.

Anne, I'm pretty worried. The first time for me, that I hope for a faulty technique. Due to the bad weather, it would be possible.
The signals may be disturbed in adverse weather conditions. By that I mean that there is a large-scale failure of telecommunications also in Germany, if there are thunderstorms or something like that. That's what I hope.

Yes, you are right, Liz. It could be because of the bad weather that we do not receive any updates.
There seem to be quite some thunderstorms. Even today. :slap:

Cross my fingers.

Good evening all together,

also today no news from Karl. This is really worrying.
I don't know what to think about the impact of bad weather on the transmitter. I can imagine, a thunderstorm can disturb transmissions for several hours or a day. But for 4 days?
Probably we can only hope that the transmitter has been damaged, as already has been suspected here. Hopefully our Karl was not injured.

Just now I had a look at the birdmap. No news. Let us hope for tomorrow. :2thumbsup:

Thank you all for your thoughts, reports from our Karula and the tracker maps.

Good night, everyone!

Thank you Urmas and Solo for the announcement,
even though the news is a bit tedious.
Then we have to wait ...

If the flash has hit and broken the transmitter?

That is why you decided at least one day to skip?
There are a lot of birds with not working transmitters. The osprey Piret managed to break hers in one season. :puzzled:
