For Karl it is very possible that his transmitter is down. There is a looong list of such birds.

April 7th

Good morning, everyone
Treia wrote: April 7th, 2019, 7:24 am :wave : Good morning everyone!
Päikes transmitter stopped working 07.10.2018
Maru died on 25.02.2019, but last data from her transmitter came 26.02.2019
Karls transmitter stopped working 29.03.2019
Could it be so that both, Päike and Karl, are now travelling in an unknown place for us?

Treia :hi:
We just don't know if Paike and Karl are still alive. A defective transmitter is (in my opinion) rather unlikely, but can of course not be excluded. Transmitters can cease to work. There is no evidence that Karl and Päike perished, nor evidence that they are still alive. It remains an open question. If Karl doesn't return to his nest in Karula Park, he probably died. Let's wait and see what happens.

Bad news for storks (and many other birds)

In Istanbul they build a new airport. On 6 April, the company transferred its operations from Atatürk Airport to the new Istanbul Airport. The new airport is located directly on bird migration routes, especially those of storks. Environmental concerns have been swept away in advance.

modi :hi:
That's indeed bad news. :slap:

They will have to come up with a good solution.
Most birdstrikes involve large birds.
Collision is a contributing factor to the worldwide decline of avian species.

The collision between an aeroplane and a stork (or other bird) is not only deadly for the bird.
If a bird collides with the windscreen or is 'ingested' or sucked into the engine, the plane can crash. Birdstrikes are a significant threat to flight safety and have caused a number of accidents with human casualties.

In Istanbul they build a new airport.
It is awful, probably a big disaster for storks and other birds.

I've seen these news in TV. The airport has been opened in the meantime.
It has been reported also that this airport is very harmful to migratory birds. But the bad government of this country has completely ignored the concerns of environmentalists. :-(((
For me, a holiday in this country is now out of the question (apart from all the questionableness that exists anyway).

Thank you, Anne and Sova, for Karulas tracker map, the summary and the weather reports!
