During the day we can see lots of small birds that fly very quickly!! We call them "torpedo birds" but they are swifts (apodidae), generallr apus apus.
Today at 12:08 and 12:12 we saw the grifon vultures from the nest nearby changing shifts.

Hi I had written in my note the time when I saw 'big torpedos', at 12:14! Maybe they were not that 'several', but they were not small torpedo birds - good name

Today I'll be off almost whole morning, - back in the late afternoon.

Hi all
Today's (small) diary:
He spent the night away (he left just after the other BS visit, at 17:44) and arrived at 09:11.
She left one minute after but came back several times with branches and moss.
At 09:29 she returned to the nest.
And finally, at 09:44 he "told her" that it was his turn and went to the nest and she left.
Everything is quiet since then.

At 11:37 it was the shift change in the grifon vulture nest

Small diary, second part

She returned at 18:28 and he left immediatly and didn't return.
Second night that he is outside the nest.

The moonlight is covering the rocks and the river

There was a second shift change on the griffon vulture nest at 17:52

He spend the night away and arrived at 09:04.
He went immediatly to the nest
She stayed for some minutes and left at 09:10.
He is on the nest with the head turned to the wall, maybe because of the sunshine

Evening review:
She returned at 17:48 and he left immediatly.
When we thought that he would spend again the night away he returned, near 20:15, and went to the balcony.
He stayed there on the moonlight until 22:02 and then came to the mid part of the platform.
The moonlight still covers all the platform. In one hour the river will be covered of silver

The eggs are pure and beautiful, as perfect as the father and mother of them.

BS diary - from yesterday (7th March)
She left very early, before 06:49, and returned before 12:17 (nobody saw her arrival).
He arrived at 18:25 and she left immediatly after.
She didn't return for the night

At 16:54 a griffon vulture landed on the last year's griffon vulture nest and left soon after. You can see it in the top of the pic

Today's BS diary:
Another (almost) calm day.
At 09:45 he was very nervous, probably because a boat was passing "to and from" near by.
She arrived at 11:17. He went to the platform and left at 11:34.
At this time there were some problems with the image , but it was possible to see that he returned again at 11:53 and left 4 minutes later.
The rest of the day seems to have beem very calm (I was not there but comments don't mention anything).
He returned at 19:47 and she left immediatly and didn't return, so she will spend another night out.
It's interesting that now that they are incubating they don't pay any attention to each other.
It seems also (for local information) that sometimes when he is not in the nest he is on a near by rock not visible by the cam.

It's interesting that now that they are incubating they don't pay any attention to each other.

It seems you are right - no 'love' expressions.. or what they are.. But both of them take good care of the eggs, all the time protecting them and the nest if needed. Their eggs are never alone?

I think that they do co-operate very well. Maybe the other one who is not on the nest or nearby it, is somewhere there and keeps watching and quarding the surroudings - that there are no-one unwished guest too near- of course they have to eat too..

Today morning everything looked calm.

But the Estonian BS nest is still empty.. well, at any moment our waiting will have an end!

Hi all
Yesterday when I was going to write the morning diary, the Estonian BS arrived and I totally forgot
They changed shifts at 11:14, this time with a little "talking" n the nest.


He didn't came back yet.

Griffon vultures changed shifts at 17:30.
At night we had a wonderful panorama view of the moonlight in the river.
