yes it is common!
northern crane breeding area: Norway, Sweden, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia!

here where I live there are up to 80,000 of them in spring and autumn. I see them all year round! But only a few are seen during the breeding season. They come from the south in spring and, after strengthening, move to the northern breeding grounds. In the fall they come back to the feeding grounds . A grandiose spectacle in the sky and in the fields

Thank you again so much! It’s still amazing to me how similar they sound to the sand hill cranes. I live In MS and just in the last 5 years or so we are seeing them here for the first time in the winter. The storklets were very interested in those that flew over. Thank you again for all your posts. Still hard to believe Bonus had such a great fledge after all he’s been through! God Bless

Joe, you're welcome! Many cranes now also stay here in winter, where I live. That was impossible a few years earlier. It was too cold, frost and snow. That has changed.
Yes, Bonus has increased due to the great help from Dr. Madis, Urmas, Ain and other volunteers, developed very well.
The nice thing is that we will know if Bonus will continue to do well. Thank the transmitter!

the distribution of the common crane is very wide and it used to be even wider.

This is normal stork life. they have to get used to the fact that food is not always available. I think it's not a problem for them in this age!
