so there is a fresh fish on the nest again. :faint:
i become almost sorry for the waste of good fish, but i can also see how they brought up three of those last year: no problem in the pantry.

Durbe is sleeping...

i think that the poopshots of these eagles are wet. at least they look like that. for the birds who live in tree hollows the poop come in a small tablet covered with a film which the parents can easily transport out. very soon Durberts will be strong enough to shoot the poop well overboard and then it will not soil the nest. in the mean time the poops are so small in volume that they are no problem yet.
i think that the rotting fish will be more of a problem. Image

Yes, that is what I meant. So also little baby eaglets do poop wet poops. And they have to do it in to the nest.
A bit older ones can go to the loo. I watched Linda & Sulev summer 2013 and saw how Illimar do it.
When I said Durberts is in diaper age I meant that she can't go to the loo herself yet.
Little birds have solve the problem with "the real diapers", fecal sacs.

(Little song birds like Robins do grow fast, but what a job for the parents catching the food and carrying the fecal sacs.
Here is a Dunnock family https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hsmh5cwDiuA )

21:40 What was that  a corncrake? and a goose?
21:44 And now there is a songbird on the microphone

Night sounds are very interesting to listen to.

i watched my recording from this morning. there was no fish delivery. Durbe dug up one 'well-hung air-dried' fish from under the hay she had brought a little earlier. i though it looked so stiff on the nest that it could not be fresh.

there will be lovely compost in the nest next spring.

Durberts has been alone a long time now - I wonder where are the parents ... :puzzled:

the weather looks warm today. maybe she could not stand the odour? - although vainamoinen wrote some time ago that birds have poor sense of smell... fortunately it is usually windy up there.
is this Robert now with the baby?
