Then an immature eagle came to look for its night time roost, so it was time for Harald to leave.

One of the eaglets born this year returned to the nestsite for roosting. Today i'm going to take some pictures by the sea. Hopefully both youngsters and the adults will be there.

Just wanted to clearify a bit. The white spots in the trees are down feathers from the eagles. Typical evidence of a roostingtree :-)

Two more pictures from Harald, who went to Falkflaug today. Look at those pink-topped mountains - what a view :2thumbsup: Ice on the lake surface but not yet completely covering it.

Sleeping eagle. More than once have I come to a nest site where I have found one or both adults sleeping.
In this case I was out for ringing and climbed up to the nest from below when I found the adult sleeping.
I took up my camera in a hurry and the first little "click" woke up the bird. Head of the chick visible to the right.
This nest site is older then 100 years and still in use, but from that day I only looked after it from a distance.

Text and images by Harald Misund.

Many collored items found at the sea shore.
Some of the things came from foreign countries, but fishing boats in the North Sea also uses the sea as a trashcan.
Well, us Norwegians are not as good as we like to think.
In the tare I found a adult WTSE well eaten bay raven and crows, but the 12 stering feathers (rectrices) were taken care of.
As tou see the tail feathers are not all white.
Since I have collected tail feathers found at different nest sites for many years, I have noticed they are a little different in patteren for each bird.

What an interesting collection of junk!

I think that Kennerty Farm Dairies in Aberdeen should collect their property!
How on earth did it get there?

I thought I was going to be clever and e-mail that company with the link to Harald's pictures.
They were bought out by a much bigger milk distribution company some time ago

May I use one of the images of the collected plastic junk to post with a warning to clean up after ourselves?

It is usually OK to use forum images, provided that a link to the original is given, or unless there is a specific copyright assertion, which does not apply to that pic, right now!

How are Harald Misund's eagles doing, I wonder.
A while ago I thought poor birds, all that cold and snow up there far in the north - and then checked the weather: mid-Sweden and Estonia were much worse off. They have the Gulf stream up there on the northernmost coast of Norway.

I am happy to report that Harald replied to my e-mail. He and the WTSE in his area have survived the winter. He says they have an unusually large amount of herring, so the birds are very happy.

He sent me some pictures which his friend Gisle Noel helped with.
They are going through the photobucket process now. I will post a few at a time, with Harald's comments on each one.
