Yesterday at 19:46 the father stork was on the nest wich the chicks. Soon he walked out of the nest to the clip, and was standing there..

Today early in the morning the other chick was nodding the beak up and down for quite a long time.. I watched about for ten minutes..The parents are not far away..

The other day I saw this beautiful bird on the cliff.. the 25th May at 9:29. It is a Ruppell's Vulture or Griffon Vulture.. garina do mar knows better this rare bird, I have forgotten what was the difference.

Or is it Ruppell's Griffon Vulture?

I don't now. I tried to contact him but didn't manage. Then I asked Vítor Encarnação (from the ringers association) a few days ago because they usually ring them between 30 and 38 days and they are already 38 and 37 but he didn't know so I don't believe they will do it.

The ringed adult was known. He was born in 1999 some 11 km from here and makes nest here since 2003. The female is not its first female, the other was ringed too. Now there are at least two more BS here but we don't know if they are a couple or only young BS.

It's a Griffon Vulture.
The Ruppell's Vulture is more dark with some white feathers doing a sort of drawings:

This BS family is the kindest one: the egg is still in the nest and they don't do anything with it.

I didn't know the history of Calimero, be cause I'm too old! I googled!



I tried to create a slideshow in flickr. There are here 45 pictures from the Portuguese Black storks and their nest and the two chicks. The chicks have now begun their flying excercises.

The pictures are from the 4th to 9th Jun. I didn't add dates on pictures I had short of time

Well, not the same bird. The one from Renandeli pic was an adult and today what we saw were some images of the young griffon vulture that was born this year on the nest underneath. We just manage to see his head.

Not at all. They were so frightened that they stayed very quiet. He placed a piece of cloth over their heads, did the work very quickly and even when he was puting his things together they stood there very quiet
