From what I remember, last year, at first they were very frightened in Estonia also.
Here it was more difficult to know that someone was coming as he came hidden by the rocks and in rappell, so, no noise. It was also very warm, much more than 30 degrees so they should be without much strenght to move: usually they only do wings training very early in the morning and in the end of the day.

Hi  What great and beautiful are these two young Black Storks! They look out so funny with their white 'hair' feathers like two small Andy Warhols  I took some pictures when they were just sitting and watching around, walking around the nest and making wing exercizes.

18th June The serie of pictures here are taken between 19:00 and 21:30 in the evening today. The wing flapping was amazing to watch! How long are their wings. They are like mysterious black white fairies.. I saw how the black feathers of their wigs were shining..even though the sun had gone behind the horizon

Yes! He knows very well how to deal with them. We saw him also last year ring the little griffon vulture.
Urmas knows him :D

Hello garina do mar, I 'saw' you

Do the young Black storks make jumps in the air alrady or have you seen them even to fly a bit? It will be exiting when they begin to make their first trips around the surroundings of their home balcon.. Their nesting place there in Portas de Ródão is extremly different to Estonian forests .

Hi :2thumbsup: I saw the other walking for long time on the balkon, and the other one walked the nest around and made flying execises there. I think the toes were in the air.. this Black Stork seemed like turning in the air to other direction.

I saw the other there outside the nest nodding head and open beak. I almost could hear the voice we heard in the Estonian Black Stork nest when the chicks threre were about at the same age.
