Janis Kuze wrote:Hello,
we tried to sort out the possible reason for streaming problems this morning and at the moment it doesn't look good - the most probable interrupted section is the cable from "base station" to camera, another, less likely reason - dead switch. In both cases problem can be solved only by visiting and repairing damaged parts on site, what is not possible now due to obvious reasons (base station is located some 100 m from nest in rather light forest).
It is still possible that system will wake up at some moment, but if it will not happen, the earliest time when we can check the site is the time when juveniles are ringed (late May/early June). Really sad to say that. Beginning of the season was promising..
Thank you Janis for the info.
It's unfortunate but it remains technique which we depend. We wait.........patient

good morning! :hi:

no camera. *sigh*

Liz, i found the pictures and i think they show well enough that there is an egg. hopefully there will soon be more eggs.

about the camera i'm pessimistic. Janis was a bit worried about the camera already some time ago on one stormy day. yesterday he wrote that the problem is most probably quite near to the nest, about 100m from there. no-one can go there now, not before the eaglet(s) get their rings and that will happen in about 2 months.

a night-time visit would also be out of the question even without egg(s) because, as we have seen, these two eagles are active also in the dark. they also spend their nights near the nest (at least Fleur and i have heard them rustling their feathers in the night there).

the fortunate thing about the camera breaking yesterday morning instead of one day earlier is that we now know the exact laying date of the first egg. WTE eggs take 38 days incubation more or less exactly so this egg will hatch on May 1st (plus or minus one day, if everything goes well). ringing is possible when eaglets are about 1 month old. knowing the date of laying gives Janis an opportunity to schedule the ringing and camera repair visit to the nest.

nobody knows yet when the black storks, ospreys and LSEs will be back, but i'm sure they'll be back before we get this camera back. :D
.... and i guess they'll be back in the order which i wrote them. :whistling:

you'll just have to be patient and wait. Bea and the others have given this same massage to a lot of people already.

if you are very impatient you can try these addressess every now and then (with VLC-player):
rtsp://193.40.133.138:80/live/kurg
rtsp://193.40.133.138:80/live/kalakotkas
rtsp://193.40.133.138:80/live/kalakotkas2
rtsp://193.40.133.138:80/live/konnakotkas
rtsp://193.40.133.138:80/live/tooni
the web-addresses can be found on the top of the first page in the lats year's topic of each nest.
i tried them and all are inactive still but one sunny morning they'll be transmitting stream... 8-)

you can also check the Nature camera -page of EENET.EE if there is something new.

i'm in the process of making the playlists mainly to amuse myself and i found two videos which were indeed amusing. :D

these are from March 6th which was a busy building day for the male. he brought in big sticks which he cut from nearby spruces with loud crackling sounds, even dropped some of them and with the ones he did not drop he was working in almost a frenzy. his struggle with two big sticks in that afternoon made me laugh out loud because it reminded me of some silent comedies like Laurel and Hardy films.

btw: the BS-camera (kurg) is already working. :whistling:

This cam appears to be working again.

Is this right? Or am I posting in the wrong topic?

What wonderful news! :headroll:
