In the evening a call that I can't interpret.
My app thinks it's a jay. (vague guess) For me it can be anything.
Polly :hi: it's a pine marten.
I am on my smartphone, so witout translater. Also nur kurze Antwort 😁

Thanks for your idea Liz!
There are always noises in the shadows of the darkness, including in the nest tree (also earlier 19:52). We are so fixated on the diurnal protagonists even though it would be interesting to observe life here at night too.
There's only one thing I've never seen here before - squirrels.

November 6th

Good evening everyone, Polly, Liz, vainamoinen.
Thanks for your contributions.

The place seems alive with birds.

I like bullfinches because of their color. It reminds me that a friend many years ago went to Valsaín every year at the beginning of November to check his arrival after the autumn migratory trip. They had fixed places near the town among the brambles and bushes.

This morning the goshawk showed signs of its sound presence at 11:38, 11:42 and 12:09.

See you tomorrow and rest.

Hello Polly and everyone. :hi:

This morning the goshawk made itself heard very briefly at 10:51:46
(he was there) for a little later, 10:59:40, to make himself heard well. Will it be H21?

Greetings

Hello Emiliano,

I have noted the following:
07:36 Woodpecker in excitement

09:53 Goshawk chattering
'56 Crow nagging and the little ones start chattering in alarm (wren, but could also be robin)

By the way, robins belong to the thrush family. I didn't know that. But I find it interesting.
GT
The large family of thrush birds (Turdidae) also includes a songbird that you wouldn't even expect to be part of it: the robin (Erithacus rubecula). But its bowl-like nest shape – typical of thrush birds – gives it away.

10:05 Alarm chattering gets louder

I also checked the timestamps in the chat - no Goshawk (seagulls)
The squeaking on the factory site today is sometimes.

However, it gets interesting from 15:58 onwards.

We get over an hour's insight into the Goshawk's territorial defense.
Which seems to be mostly 'done' by the females.

It starts with a crack and the sound of a juvenile ... at least the voice still sounds bright.
almost at the same time H21?

I will simply assign the second adult female to H21. There is no assumption that H21 has left her territory.
but of course without sighting, without evidence it could be any female.

Both are calling shrilly, powerfully ....sharp and frantically.

This tonal power struggle continues for over an hour.

Meanwhile
* 16:11 Woodpecker now also calls
*'17 Tit hopping through the nest
Image

*16:26 Blackbirds scold

*16:33 the calls get a slight change in tonality

Both females are not willing to give up.
H21 in particular is very changeable in the tonal choice of her calls/prompts

*16:38 H21 calls more sharply

...sometimes she uses whistles
(which the juvenile has not yet mastered)

*16:44 Woodpecker hammering in the nest tree
Image

The last call belongs to H21 at 16:59

'59:20 a goshawk flies low towards the industrial site.

Uncut, the encounter in full length. Both females are steadfast until the end, neither gives in. These are situations that we rarely get to experience otherwise - the life of the goshawk outside of the nesting season. :innocent:

Absolutely Emiliano, you are right!
I think yes, sounds like H21.
In 10:51 I couldn't find anything despite searching?

Thank you very much! I missed that.

Hello.

Today the area has been busy.

9:53 I missed it. There is a lot of background noise, they are not close and with several screens at the same time the bass is lost if there are louder sounds on another.

10:51 I hesitated, it was like a flash of the short films they sometimes make and then he called that's why I put it on.

I started to listen to the "dialogue" of the afternoon but I had to leave. The sound sounds a bit strange to me (it doesn't sound like H21 to me). The sounds that occur as adults can also be from chickens or young people (ki-ki...)

See you tomorrow

There was a morning visit to the nest.
08:32 A young Goshawk hatches silently into the nest without rings.
looks around and jumps onto the side branch.

Good morning Polly and everyone. :hi:

9:07:17 , 11:31:22 Goshawk sounds (H21)?

Having heard another goshawk with the same sound makes us doubt that it is H21 but it is almost certainly she who is still in the area. Furthermore, it seems that she has been able to change her angry call or it is because we had not heard it in previous years with that intensity (she had not had serious discussions with other females).

If you have heard a lot of noise from chainsaws in the previous days, they may be cleaning for construction.

Greetings

Hello everyone! :hi:

The kingfisher of the LDF logo has been the most loyal resident in the nest tree here in recent days. 8-) At least visible.

On November 10th there was a single 'Gjak'. But close and clear. Nothing before - nothing after.

Nevertheless, this tree is often used as a singles and food exchange. About tits, blackbirds...

Intermittent riots yesterday. The complaints from the Goshawk's neighbors were clearly heard. Angry woodpecker calls, restless robins and crows.
Of course the crows... even today.
From 09:06 Seagulls and crows create a spectacle in the distance.
09:25 The crows have arrived in the grove and the woodpecker can also be heard.
09:51 it remains restless

Next 13:12
A magpie chatters its way through the territory... boldly jumps to the nest to be heard further in the area until 1:36 p.m.
Image

Image

Image

13:54, 15:32 the woodpecker ... on the one hand with an alarm call, on the other hand with a flight call

16:12 the sweet little wren in the nest

...a blackbird follows

16:32 again the king of the bridle and in the background in the branches of a tree there is again the company of a blackbird. :innocent:
Let's enjoy the company and existence of the small bird world.

Have a nice evening everyone!

November 14th

Hello Polly and everyone.

Several days of listening without signs of the H's.
Only the little birds (the tits- parus major- are the most frequent) add a little color and autumn has increased the visibility.

The noise commotion between females has also passed and it seems that H21 could be one of those involved.
This couple in previous years has not been early in their displays of heat but we hope that they continue in the area even if they have to move away from the current nest area if there are no direct disturbances like last year.

We will continue until the camera stops.

Emiliano, good evening everyone!
At least there was Goshawk in the territory today or at least on or over the garden fence.

09:14:04 "Gjak" and then quick calls from another position

Urgent, lamenting again 09:14, '15

Emiliano, everyone! :hi:

From 09:12 there was the annual 'Jay refills his pantry in the Goshawk's nest - spectacle'.
Briefly interrupted by a thrush, he finished his work secretly ( :whistling: ) without shouting...

A handsome guy :innocent:

10:57 I don't know what the reason was but crows are gurgling and clattering on the move.

At 11:16 the little tits were back in the nest

I'm still following the day - there probably won't be much left.

Good morning Emiliano and everyone!

The stream is on shaky ground. There are lots of breaks and jumps.
Nevertheless, it can be assumed that there is no reliable or obvious activity here.

Have a pleasant Sunday!
