i think the rain has stopped.... at least there is a pause in the drip-drop.

the bird on the nest still looks like it's hibernating.
the other eye is quite closed and the left one is partly open (only a tiny slit).

i was away the for the morning and now checked the Pontu pictures. it seems that Lubana left the nest at 13:00 after calling a few times. then Sartas came home at 13:30. the nest was empty for half an hour! :slap:
knowing that there are crows and ravens in the forest this was rather daring of the parents...
i hope that at least one of them was nearby though...

i'll check the Pontu video to see what kind of voices and sounds there are.
yes, and btw: the bird in the nest must be Sartas.

16:06 - 16:07 Sartas called. i don't know why or to whom, but he looked intensively at something up in the sky.

16:22 this was a sensible change of turns: Lubana came in first and only after that Sartas went away.
Lubana brought a stick with her.
Image

Sartas was a little stick after sitting still for so long...
Image

they didn't talk at all, Sartas just got up...

16:51 Lubana called and i think i heard Sartas' voice, too, but it came from far and wind was blowing on his voice.

then Lubana looked to right and up in the sky and called again at 16:52.

maybe she saw Sartas flying there? :puzzled:

then in the clip after that about 2 minutes later at 13:03:30 there were some rustling or cracking sounds from the forest...
then some raven's grrrss ... and more rustling.

at 13:04:52 few eagle voices? from far? and crow voices...
13:04:30 maybe some sounds of wings leaving from nearby?

at 13:04:57 onwards a few eagle's calls from not very near. then silent (except for the wind).

from 13:10 onwards a woodpidgeon calls
13:11 a crow (or crows) flies by.
13:12 more crow's calls.
13:12:18 onward few eagle's calls.
13:13 crows.. and more crow's calls.. and more... and some more. and more . they are about but not near.

13:15:20 eagle's calls ... then a woodpidgeon 13:15:30 ->
and crows...

13:15:58 few eagle's calls (sounds a bit funny?). 13:16:36 soem more funny eagle's voices.
13:16:49 something flew past the upper left corner! :puzzled:
it looked like a big wing (or a smaller wing close to camera)... my guess is that this was an eagle's wing but who knows.
Image

13:17:45 -> eagle's calls! not from far. then wood pidgeon who begins to call quite calmly. only one or two crow's calls after that. then nothing special.

this was really intriguing! i wonder what this was about..? still i don't think that a parent was far from the nest at any time.

after this i think it was calm already with no interruptions. -it was Mrs E who was at home at that time and she has been more upset about visitors than Mr E: she has called at them more eagerily and so on (like LInda last spring), so it would be possible that she left the nest to drive corvids away (while, hopefully! Mr E was near to the nest)

this is the latter part of empty nest:
