to me it seemed that Milda brought some green water plant. i think she had something green in her both "hands". Miks was holding the fish tail which was left.
Image

Miks rushed to grab whatever Milda was bringing. he was still holding the fish tail.
Image

after Miks saw that Milda had nothing edible he quickly swallowed the fish tail.

Good morning all,

I just joined this forum after reading along for quite some time. I have learned so much by all your posts, observations, comments, explanations - it's fantastic, thank you so much for all this knowledge!

The reason I joined today specifically is that I am worried about Rika. Is she allright? To me, she seems subdued somehow, for several days, not her strong self. The way she backed off from this mornings fish - well, in the morning and after having eaten the night before she sometimes, it often seemed to me, allows Mika a good portion of the food, but the last days what she took in has not been so much, or has it? I don't know about preflight diets - I think you, Ame, wrote that they actually need food to build muscle. And Mika does beautifully so. But Rika? Also in exercising she is surprisingly far behind Mika, it seems, and I do not know whether that's just a character thing, or whether it's due to her presumed sex - the female spending more time on the nest, just watching, rather than energetically exploring and sitting on branches? But I'm not sure that explains it. I've looked up previous eaglets in the forum, but neither Bose nor Makonite nor Robis behaved thus, or did they?

I'm worried she might suffer from some infestation with parasites. I know it's Mika who rubs bottom etc., but he does not seem to be slowed in his development.

Anyway, perhaps I am wrong, I sure hope so. Though Mika has been my secret champion, I would hate to see Rika suffer.

welcome Ajeta!
:gathering:

i don't believe that there is any reason to be worried about Rika. i think that she has made equally strong wing exercises as Miks. she seems to be lazy because Miks, on the other hand, is almost hyper-active.
Makonite (2014 Latvian nest) and Teele (2010 Estonian nest) were much lazier than Rika.

female eaglets are usually heavier than male eaglets. perhaps they are not as agile as males. maybe the activity also depends on the character. who knows.

Raimis brought the next silver fish! :headroll:

Miks (?) has it. so far...
