11:22 Miks was not hungry. he made some WE & CE with the fish. then he nibbled the fish, tasted it but he didn't begin to eat properly. he left the fish be.
Rika took it. she made some CE with the fish, the real thing.
then she began to eat.
11:26 Miks made some WE.

9:44 Rika made strong WE with very high jumps. she seems to specialize in height.
puzzle: where is she?
It is Mika who makes the strong WE and disappears from the screen due to high jumping here, not Rika. Thats part of why I had started wondering about Rikas health. Though some of her exercises yesterday seemed very playful, there seems a lack of energy. And the fact that she does not do any branching, could that show that she is not feeling up to it? After all it takes some strength to keep her longer body and more mass in balance.
Again, at 11:33/8 it is Mika who drags up the cone, plays with it and makes WE & CE, while at 11:47 it is Rika who stretches and makes WE (Mika on the right turns his black tail to the viewer).
In both videos, it appears to me, Rika seems surprisingly small in comparison to Mika. Of course that's largely due to the camera, but could it be more so than just that?
If Rika was suffering from some parasites, will she overcome that? I mean, is that a common thing for eaglets which they go through? Anyway, I hope I am wrong and that Rika is fine and will soon take up speed in getting ready to fledge.

11:36 Rika finished eating. a nice piece of fish is left. Miks looked at it but is not really interested...
then he spread his wing... and took the fish ... and started to eat. ..no, only nibbled. he is not hungry.
it so nice that they have enough fish. they don't need to fight for them.
11:38 Miks finished eating. he pooped.

4:18 Rika stretched.
4:32 Miks pooped and made WE. also Rika pooped. Miks made a lot of WE. first he jumped to the right branch. from there he went to the left branch.

4:44 both made WE. Miks jumped between the nest and both left and right branch. finally he went to the top branch.
5:54 Miks made WE on the top branch.

6:05 Miks turned on the branch.
6:06 he jumped to the left branch.
6:10 he came down to the nest.
6:12 he made WE.
At 06:13+ there was a very loving beaks scene, it was really longggggg
this is the "sweet moment" which Abigyl wrote about.
i'd rather say that they were measuring beaks, but in a friendly way.

i don't believe that there is any reason to be worried about Rika. i think that she has made equally strong wing exercises as Miks. she seems to be lazy because Miks, on the other hand, is almost hyper-active.
Makonite (2014 Latvian nest) and Teele (2010 Estonian nest) were much lazier than Rika.
female eaglets are usually heavier than male eaglets. perhaps they are not as agile as males. maybe the activity also depends on the character. who knows.
quotation corrected by ame.
Thank you, Ame, for the reply, and I'm glad you think so! Regarding the wing exercises, my impression is different, as I wrote earlier (regarding your videos yesterday). In fact, I think Rika possibly jumped higher in previous days than now. But as this is the first nest I am watching, I sure have much to learn.
Just now again though, when she didn't tell Mika to let go of the fish (around 11:22), but waited patiently for him to leave it - it does not strike me as the Rika I have seen up to now. And animals with parasite infestation do lose appetite and become more lethargic, don't they? However, I can only stress that I am not at all familiar with eaglet development, so I just hope that she is fine and that I will continue to learn!

6:39 Rika made WE. then she worked with sticks. Miks helped her... then Miks made WE.
6:46 Rika made WE & CE with high jumps.
6:49 more WE.

7:41 Miks pooped.
7:51 he made WE with high jumps.
8:30 Rika jumped over Miks.

8:59 Rika made WE and probably kicked or pushed Miks. Miks didn't like it, he complained loud.
9:13 Miks pooped. then he went to the left branch.
Re: Latvian WtE nest webcamera Juras-erglis Durbe 2019
9:31 Milda brought water weeds or something else like that. cow food, no good for eaglets...
see: viewtopic.php?p=671311#p671311
Miks swallowed the fish tail and Milda flew out. kids went on screaming...
9:36 Milda flew away.

11:41 both made WE. Miks pooped. Rika made WE & CE with the fish tail. after "catching" the fish she began to eat.
11:45 she finished. she ate all the rest.
11:54 Miks made WE.
11:58 he actually flew above the nest in the strong wind!
12:01 he made more WE.

9:50 more WE.
I am sorry - I already sent a post about this, but I messed it up by not understanding the quoting system. I hope this is more successful - it seems I have not only to learn a lot about ealges, but about posting, too. I just wanted to say that it is Mika in this photo (or rather out of it ), not Rika. Yesterday at 9:44 and further it was him doing WE.
Same at 11:38 (also on page 464): Mika finds the cone and it is him who plays with it and energetically exercises. At 11:47 it is Rika who stretches.
These videos were part of why I started wondering about Rika. Just as you, I would have thought she should be the one making these high jumps. But she did not, and hasn't done so yet, I think. Anyway, sorry about insiting - there isn't anything anyone could do anyway, probably, if indeed an eaglet were to fall ill, is there?

12:09 next silver fishie!
by Raimis i think.
yes, Raimis.
the kids showed very mild interest.

are you sure it is Miks making these jumps?
i'll have see again... (Sochik has not corrected me and she knows the eaglets best.)
...yes! you are absolutely right: it was Miks who made the high jumps!
and you are right about the other two cases, too.
thank you for the correction!
the principle with the nest cameras is not to interfere the life of the birds in any way (other than ringing the chicks). there have been some exception. for example last year at the second Latvian WTE nest the younger eaglet fell out of the nest too early. he was also famished (it was a bad fishing year). then Janis Kuze collected the eaglet Knips from under the nest and he was taken to an aviary. it was considered necessary, otherwise Knips would have perished.
... but in this case, Rika: i don't believe that anyone will interfere. firstly: we don't even know if there is anything wrong, and secondly: it's very probable that nothing is wrong. she'll be fine.
12:16 Raimis called in the forest.
ps. when you want to quote someone's post click the quotation mark in the top right corner of the post which you want to quote.
i corrected the first quotation. i hope you don't mind.

Allow to put in a conversation on health of Rika.
I began to watch Rika when in a chat someone wrote that she badly transfers a heat fixedly.
This is true. She strenuously breathed, creaked and could not hold wings. In hot days she did not fight for fish, as usual, and Mika it was possible to eat.
Even when the heat receded, Rika could not hold wings, all of them time slipped. Only a week ago wings of Rika became stronger.
I thought of health of Rika much.
It has strong legs. It the first began to stand and hold fish long. Perhaps weak wings do not give the chance to train at full capacity.
At Mika legs are much weaker but wings strong. Never at Mika wings slipped down.
I somewhere read that wings slip at weak and sick birds. I assumed that Rika very quickly grew up and internals were not in time behind a body. Perhaps weak heart results in such behavior of Rika.
Now she became stronger, better holds wings and more actively trains.
Perhaps heart got stronger (grew, evolved).
These are only my assumptions.
