15:20 Kergu is here. Greetings. Kerli flies away.

15:21 Feeding.
Kergu serves beautiful fish. All the chicks eat.
I believe that each chick has eaten several fish.

That was a wonderful meal. The chick in front (not certain if #1 or #2?) ate and ate...

It's getting harder and harder to differentiate #1 and #2.

I have to go now and won't be back until late in the evening.

Swenja wrote: June 7th, 2025, 11:15 pm Kerli seems to be very tense. I don't know the reason.
Anne7 wrote: June 7th, 2025, 11:16 pm I also noticed those movements. I don't know what the cause might be. However, raised feathers are often a sign of nervousness. Kerli does not seem at ease.
Edit: We also don't know if Kerli experienced anything unpleasant or stressful outside the nest today. :puzzled:
Hello everyone :hi:

Maybe it is an odd thought - but ....
Could it be that parasites cause such strange behaviours?
When I remember right - during ringing the storklets, parasites/leeches were found in their throats (Doc Madis Leivits and Urmas mentioned them).
Adult BS are much more directly exposed to leeches, they are foraging in ponds and creeks, the home of leeches. A leech in the throat could cause unpleasant feelings and lead to such substitute activities. Kerli feels the unpleasant leech, can´t remove the leech in her throat and moved the leg instead.

Well, just a thought, we won´t know, because we can´t look into their throats :D
