I've actually already said goodbye several times but somehow it doesn't fit today now we have an owl in the nest. :rotf: :D

18:30 flutters silently into the nest.

The visibility is not good. I think she's just sitting...
Came into the nest with a bit of difficulty (you can tell from the flapping of the wings, a close, difficult landing). Maybe she brought some loot with her.

Well, it could be anything. :D

The winter service seems to be active...not disturbing the resting guest in the nest. Tawny sits and rests. :innocent:

20:19 Yes indeed. Tawny begins to pluck.

20:24 flaps its wings and pulls the food into the center of the nest.

Hello Polly, thank you for your notifications. :2thumbsup:

Looking at what happened last year, I feel that "the best possible framework" was changed. We have to be guessing and we are not sure. A little more waiting and it will take them a while to change the camera. They seem more active the last few days.
.
See you tomorrow.

Good morning @sova, Emiliano and everyone! :hi:

I think it was a tawny owl again. I couldn't get any good pictures but in one of them some light falls on the front of the head and it looks like Tawny.

(I don't know how the chat is controlled. Sometimes messages from the day before are still there the next day in the afternoon - my information yesterday in the evening was deleted within a very few hours. Not for the first time. So I won't use the chat anymore - here.)

Seems Tawny has used the nest as a dining table again.
I wonder if she actually has a territory near here? She didn't call that night - not before and not after the visit. Only a short "beep" and 03:52, 04:21 a crack could be heard outside the nest. I'll try again to see if another visitor was here.
Tawny left the nest at 03:00.

Now we're waiting for the 'crime scene cleaners'.

Andra wonders who marked the nest, I wonder the same thing ...
I couldn't find anything. I tried it and went through it dozens of times throughout the night. :/
If there was a marten in the nest, it was quick. But wouldn't he have dug the nest and taken the rest of the prey with him?
I can only imagine that these are body fluids from the prey animal that escaped during dissection. I have no idea. :D

The day is going...
January 7th

You can rely on the boys.
At 9:14 a.m. the clean-up crew arrives with a lot of noise.
But only one dares...
Picks up the frozen piece and proudly carries it out of the nest, followed by his colleagues.

We no longer see how it is divided. The company quickly left here.

A Goshawk would be nice now... Image

Ha, at least someone is hanging around here.
12:36 comes flying from the back area, calls and lands.

Image

'46 now the goshawk leaves the place towards the nest tree without any calls.
Disappears from view below the nest. Either he landed there or flew on.

It's very quiet...not even a little noise can be heard. Only in the distance is a constantly nagging crow is to hear.

Hello Polly, Sova and everyone. :hi:

Thanks for the notifications.

When there are appearances of owls or martens, messages are triggered in the chat and users in the camera. There are many chat messages and the first ones may be deleted, although sometimes there are few and they are also deleted. Administrators will know how to do it.

12:36:29
The goshawk also sounds, although far away, a little before landing.

Greetings

The rest of the day was characterized by wintry calm.

Emiliano found news from Female L25.
L25 partnered H92 last season (he was hatched 25 or 27 May 2021 in this nest).
L25 is still based in the Ķengarags area (district of Riga).

How often has Edgar Trops been successful on his forays.

Polly :2thumbsup: y todos.

Edgars Trops is a good photographer and is almost the official chronicler of Kengarags.
Knowing the territory and with its ability and " letting yourself go " of the urban goshawks does not have to be difficult.

In a territory very close to Kengarags, H21 was born in 2020 , while we were watching the brave Boka and Louijs in this chamber nest.

January 8th

Hello everyone! :innocent:

There have been a number of calls today.

In the morning the female, our H21? calling through the territory.
Seems the starting block has been abandoned.
The calls sound urgent, demanding and searching.
Looking for the partner.
A black day for me today - H44 didn't get on. No sign that he is at his partner's side.
my impatience greets you .....

10:59 - 11:11 Probably H21 with urgent calls
We see her flying low. :innocent:
12:03, '31, '32
(12:31:02/03 seems close now)

Jay misunderstood something.
14:00 - 04 he offers himself as a Goshawk but thanks... no.
Although I'm still happy to hear him. I've actually missed Jay and Specht lately. But the boys are still on board. :2thumbsup:

15:23:17 a vague, impatient greeting from the grove
3:46 p.m. the music box
I'm a lover of these sometimes expensive parts but here... I can't even recognize a melody... a song
16:11 Alert
Robin or wren - my gut says that it doesn't fit.
5:05 p.m. still the music box

I'm a little worried. I hope H44 is intact.

Chiffchaff? A quiet song?
Which one is it? :help:

short remembering ...

Polly , thanks for the notifications. :2thumbsup:

I did hear those in the morning. It also sounded very clear at 10:00.

H44 has never been lavish in sounds except in high season, it is only early January and we have recently seen two individuals, we are going to trust that it is him.

Actually.
H21 seems to be having a boost.

Thank you for the head pat Emiliano.
But haven't we had more couple whispers recently?

Yes, I'm becoming more patient! Image 8-)

Hello everyone! :hi:

Yes, today is a good day - we finally have a sure sign that the couple is doing well! :loveshower:

The crows had been moving through the area grumbling for some time.
11:18 and now we hear (and see) why.
To see a goshawk flying past (very graceful) and then to hear the pair.

They are probably still sitting here somewhere in the nest tree area.

Good morning Polly and everyone. :2thumbsup:

Good news, it is confirmed that there are two. I have been following you since very early and I have listened to everything you say.

Current temperature in Riga 1ºC.

More midday activity.

13:45, 14:11, 14:12 Sounds
14:45 He appears coming up from the left area (stream) and lands, calling , although he cannot be seen.

16:21 -23 Both chatter to each other

Gently excited... stimulated, benevolent and it sounds close.

It's nice to hear the couple together again.

January 10th

Good morning together :hi:

...and good morning Riga.
The Goshawks have also already started together.
08:14:12/13 2 short but clear sounds in the immediate vicinity

The crowd of crows is already in the air. ... kraa, kraa, kraa

Thaw... it's bubbling.
It will be a short breather, because the frost will return at the end of the week.
