Hello everyone

Yesterday there was the broadcast "Osoon" on TV and here is the link to the part of it about the bats in Estonia. Though in Estonian but may be still interesting to watch:

On Looduskalender first page an article was written about bats and your video added.
A nutshell of it is below with appreciation to you for your work in this thread:

"Interesting "voices" can be heard in the video. The bat cam in Piusa uses the help of the bat detector to make soundless bats audible for us. It's not the sound of flapping their wings but the ultrasound that the bats use for echo sounding brought up to the threshold of hearing with the help of the bat detector, explains the bat expert Rauno Kalda.
Now there are less bats in the "clot" than there were two weeks ago because they are moving around. As it is spring soon there will be no bats to be seen."

Here you can see that during the hibernation period actually a lot is happening. Bats are waking up from time to time and fly around, change places and mate.

The movement you see here might be due to human disturbances. At this time, we were visiting the mine for annual bat censuses as a part of the national bat monitoring program.

I hope you noticed that the batcam is back again! And the bats are still there... We had some major problems with the capacity of the SIM-card and it was hard to reach the people necessary to fix the problem. Now it is ok!

Blackout in Piusa. Wind speed is up to 20 m/s there.
