Exciting news!
We will be ringing the chicks on Monday morning!
Whilst we do this we will have to take the live stream off air for a while.
So from approx. 6am this wont be on until later that morning.
Watch out for more news on Monday!

We get asked regularly why LJ2 and LM6 do not have names.
Quite simply not all nests that ring their osprey chicks give them names.
The two nests in Scotland where our current pair originally came from fall into that bracket and they were just not given names.
We at Brenig have always named our chicks and will do so again when they are ringed, it wont be too long before we do that and we will let you know when that happens.
The article below is a great read all about ringing and why it is done.

So for anyone wondering why our osprey camera has been a wee bit blurry today, the chicks scored a direct hit! Hopefully we'll get a bit of rain later to give it a clean!

Our Ospreys chicks have been ringed, now they need names!
Although it is very difficult to determine the gender at such a young age, it is thought that chick X6 is female and chick KA9 is male.
Local primary school Ysgol Pant Pastynog were asked to produce a selection of names for the Osprey chicks. Help us choose the final names by commenting below.

Chick X6 (female) – Grug or Olwen
Chick KA9 (male) – Gelert or Matholwch

Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who voted on the new name for our female. Lots of you voted with just under 21000 people casting votes!
Our female is now going to be called Asha after 8000 if you selected this as the winning name.
Thank you all for taking part and let us hope that her reign is long and happy.
