5.June

Only one chick hatched from three eggs, it's sad.
But so far the lonely chick is growing nice.

A huge fish was brought by Dad, wow!

Llyn Brenig, Wales

wonderful news about Roli KA5 :loveshower:

July 29

BLUE KA5 (19) ROLI IS BACK
Great news, KA5 (Roli) the 2019 chick of Blue 24 and HR7 has just been seen at Glaslyn.
We will get a photo of him as soon as we can so you can all see what a handsome osprey he is.
Good lad, we always knew this one would return, he has Blue24’s character.

As promised here's a picture and video of Roli KA5 visiting the Glaslyn nest last night.
Thank you to Bywyd Gwyllt Glaslyn Wildlife - Glaslyn Ospreys. for allowing us to use the footage.

Fantastic news coming from the Glaslyn Osprey nest this evening, KA5 the 2 year old son of Blue 24 and HR7 was seen landing on the nest earlier this evening. Sadly his parents are no longer with us, but what a thrill it was to be at their nest 2 years ago to see the little chap rung, and what a feisty little chap he was, and to hear that he has successfully completed his first migration back to the UK is just great news for all the team up at Brenig. With luck he will now find his patch in North Wales and start a new dynasty over the coming years, well done little dude.

Why the chick was a male, what happened with him?

Loch Arkaig, Scotland

Two osprey chicks successfully raised at Loch Arkaig (2021)

by The Woodland Trust

We're delighted that our resident male osprey, Louis, and his new mate have raised two healthy chicks. Louis followed a new female off to nest several km away from our camera nest this year, as many of you will remember. It's great to see them doing so well!

They are both thought to be boys. One of them has an orange eye while the other has a lighter colour. Osprey chicks tend to start with orange eyes which fade through to brown when they are adults, so we can guess the orange eye one might be a few days younger.

Geemeff :
Woodland Trust is delighted to introduce you to Louis' 2021 family - Louis & new mate Dorcha have two male chicks - Darvic rings LW3 and LW4. Original video was taken by ringer Lewis Pate.

496 is fine, and fledged.
I guess it was a typo at the time.

Loch Arkaig, Scotland

Loch Arkaig Osprey camera 1 : The original nest, occupied for several years by resident pair Louis and Aila.
Loch Arkaig Osprey camera 2 : A nest used last year by Louis and new partner Dorcha, now with a new camera for 2022.

GeorgeWTS
And we have both Louis and Dorcha back at Loch Arkaig!
They arrived yesterday - he in the morning and she in the afternoon.
Further excitement today at 10:41:55 and at 11:58 when an unringed male landed on Nest 1. Could this be Prince who was around last year but a little too young to breed? We think it is.
