Daddy's home!
Our male osprey Louis touched down on Nest 2 at 12:26pm on Sunday April 2! This is two days earlier than his record.
Geemeff has clipped the moment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_jCYxfeWZA
The 2023 season is now properly underway. As a result please now take note of our posting guidelines above.

Good afternoon everyone. We have another Osprey on the nest, but no rings at all. Blue LM6 did lose her ring last year but she still had her BTO ring on.
Its going to be an interesting few days.

Bore anhygoel! LM6 yn ôl!
LM6 arrived back at the Brenig nest this morning, you can just see her single BTO ring as she lost her other ring last year.
Her ring was retrieved from the nest over the winter and we will have it on display in the visitor centre for you.
The unringed female was still around yesterday so we are going to have to see how the next few days pan out, its going to be very interesting.
We will keep you updated and get some much better clearer pictures for you over the next few days.

Absolutely stunning footage of CJ7 in the sunshine this afternoon...
Two unringed Osprey (one of which looks like the old familiar Beaky!) have also been picked up from our motion-sensitive cameras on other nests today, most likely using the area as a stop-over on their migration before continuing their journeys.

DORCHA IS BACK!
She touched down briefly on C2 at 8:09:46 on Easter Sunday then gave us a better look at 8:33:58
Only problem is - Louis hasn't been seen since the early hours of yesterday morning.
Will our pair be re-united today? Keep watching to find out.
April 10
Monday lunchtime and at last we have seen Louis and Dorcha together on the nest!
Louis arrived at 12.32 clutching a live trout.
Dorcha then followed a minute later holding the tail end of a big trout.
They were soon off again but at least we know they have found each other and the nest still seems to be in play.

Yesterday Blue KA5/Roli (Llyn Brenig 2019), briefly landed on the Glaslyn nest perch for the third consecutive year. His parents Blue 24 and Blue HR7 were both regular visitors to the Glaslyn nest before they began breeding together at Llyn Brenig between 2018 and 2020.
Great to see that Roli has safely returned home to Wales.

Bore da Pawb!
Good morning everyone. Here is a little video of both LJ2 and LM6 on the perch camera this morning.
We have 2 cameras at Llyn Brenig, we will endeavour to make sure the Nest Cam is always Live but the PTZ (perch cam) will not always be available as the staff and volunteers use it for security and monitoring purposes.
You can watch the Live Stream in different ways.

We've had lots of questions about the plastic in the Osprey nest so here's a quick update:

I've found neck lace to judge males and females, in Scotland it's useless at all, males also have large dark patches of neck lace...Learn a lot

Simply awesome to watch Osprey CJ7 lay her first egg of the season, revealing it at 19:12.
Ospreys will usually lay a clutch of 3 eggs (though can lay 4!), typically 3 days apart, so we'll be paying close attention over the next week. It will be such a privilege to be able to watch all the events on this special nest unfold this year!
