Suggest Name for New Female Black Stork 2020

Post by juta »

It seems that we have a new young female on the Karl´s nest who probably came to stay.
Please, suggest the name for her(there is a nice nickname for her on the forum already, you can post it here too).

We don´t know her origin(probably from Estonia), anyway, I will not post examples of names. Let´s give her kind of international name(and Estonian too if you wish) this time.

Let´s start now and I will make the poll on Thursday, 14. May evening at 20.00

Hello
A name makes it easier to write about the female in the forum.
Do we want to stick to the letter K? Maybe the name Kaia?

What do you think of the name Plekk ?
I like the short sound of this word and it would refer to her brownish belly.

In Estonian, 'plekk' means 'stain', 'fleck', 'smudge', if I do not mistake?
Is that correct? :help:

It's funny that we have exacty the same word in Flemish dialect ('plek')

Kaia or Kira. People in the youtube chat also suggested the name Kaia. And the name Kira is just beautiful.

Cinderella is the same with Popelka. In my opinion such a name better fits for a grey heron.

Yes.
"Plekk" has another meaning, too: sheet metal.

For me "plekk" associates with "dirty" and it's something that you want to get rid off. It sounds very strange to call someone "plekk" in Estonian.

Thank you, Triin :hi:
How difficult translations are ! Words can get another connotation in other languages.
In my country it is not uncommon to give a pet a name that refers to its appearance: 'Zwartje' for a black one, 'Witje' for a white one and 'Vlekje' for one with a 'plekk'.

OK, so not “Plekk” :D

it's not necessary that the female name begins with K, right ?
(Kira would be a nice name)

I would suggest name Luule or Brita.

First one very Estonian, second one more international, but Estonian too.
