http://birdmap.5dvision.ee/EN

EEDI from Karula National Park.
Eedi is known from the year 2015. Last years breeding have been not succesful as well as summer 2021 but now he had a female partner what gives hope for next year. But migration first!

TIMMU
Adult Stork from Pärnu county.

KARL II from Karula National Park.
Has it´s own separate migration topic: http://www.looduskalender.ee/forum/view ... 9d1856f6d2
Autumn migration starts here: http://www.looduskalender.ee/forum/view ... d2#p826943
Karl´s family life this summer: http://www.looduskalender.ee/forum/view ... 9d1856f6d2

UDU from Karula National Park.

JULGE Juvenile stork from Central Estonia, Jõgeva County.

Started migration on August 28.

KATRIN

A juvenile Black Stork(probably female) hatched in Latvia (wearing a ring with the Latvian code 0XUC, ringed by Maris Strazds in northwestern Latvia on July 4 as one of four chicks). Migrated 200 km north to the settlement of Kiili after leaving the nest and stayed there to stop at a household. Were rescued by the people of the Estonian Wildlife Society and the Environmental Board and Dr vet Madis Leivits.

I think this new division is simply great
Can you read minds, juta ? This is exactly what i have been waiting for and i'm pretty sure it will be appreciated by many of us.
Thank you very much for that, juta :2thumbsup:

For EEDI i'm sorry that he again had no offsprings to raise, but it's relieving that he found a female and this gives big hope for next year. Thank you for the info.

Now i wish all the Estonian and also the Latvian as well as all the other Black Storks from different countries in Europe a safe journey !

Julge
Seems that Julge tried to cross Baltic sea, but about 17:00 (UTC+3) landed on ship. During night there were no locations taken, but in the morning Julge still on board.
Can anybody check the ship online, there is probably a public site where one can check destination point for particular ship floating with Julge on board.
Maybe we can organize meeting Julge in some harbor?
What a pity, the ship is moving north...

It looks like Julge took the ferry at 16:56. Since then, she / he drives between 13 km / h - 14 km / h and she will probably disembark in the Hanko .... there is a ship going in this direction (Dutch ship) - if I understand it correctly.

Or even to Stockholm on the ferry, those ferries pass exactly through Saaremaa and Gotland. Poor bird! But if Julge is not alone but with other storks, it is a bit better.

Hello!

Many thanks for the amazing news!

"Sailor" Julge...
Thanks to the fact that we have young storks with transmitters, we'll find out.
Maybe it's happened before and happens to other young birds...
It would be very cunning to use a ship to travel... if only it weren't completely in the wrong direction
:faint:
I cannot imagine how this situation could be resolved.
And who would teach birds to head south?

...good question...
It is necessary to teach storks to read the timetable so that they know which ship to board. Great task for Urmas .. Julge, good luck !!!
