Yes, number 4 is clearly audible! :headroll:
Maybe the 4th chick will hatch today too. That is really great! In this way, the differences in development of the little ones are kept to a minimum, despite 6 eggs.
Clever parents! :D

Thanks for all your work, Liz!
A very happy and busy day. :D

that is OK! the fish is now soft enough for them. BTW: they all have still their yolk sac! they don't need food yet. But they eat if there is

The big fish becomes softer and softer (is pre-digested).
At some point, the chicks will be able to take small bites out of it.
Don’t worry, it is going to be alright!

Oops, Liz already said something similar. :D :2thumbsup:

Anne, you're welcome :D
What happens here in one day usually lasts a few days.. :slap:
There is no time to make good videos and pictures

BTW: the hole in the egg is big enough.. the fourth will hatch today too! But I think it will happen very late.. too late for me

EDIT: Anne, you explained it much better than me! :2thumbsup: Now Illi understands what is meant

I know Liz. :D
It happens frequently that the first two chicks hatch on the same day. 3 in one day is exceptional. But we have not observed 4 on the same day yet, have we? :2thumbsup:

Numbers 5 and 6 can now hatch (probably tomorrow and the day after?) without us having to fear that they will be far too small compared to the older ones.

But raising 6 chicks will be quite a challenge for the parents. Fingers crossed!

I'll prepare a few more pics :D

Janika regurgitated two (or even three?) times. She brought a lot of food! :2thumbsup:

Image

The two chicks on the right have eaten well.
The chick on the left was in a bad position.
Image

The chick on the left finally managed to reach the food. That wasn't easy. :2thumbsup:
Image

These chicks are particularly lively for newborns. :D
