They jumped and wing-flapped a lot and although it 's really scary to see sometimes, they're all still here and did not even jump upon one another
Did not hear any more prey's being delivered.
Good night everyone

Male dropped a prey.
Our arrow-speed-like # 3 has got it.

Older sibling took it away from him, a few minutes later.

Oh, that was a large jump/fly, 1 of the chicks completely out of our sight. Have to guess it is # 1, the oldest.
Jump/fly from here to the right....

Chick # 3 in awe of his older sibling of whom we can just see a part of the wing.

Mom at the nest with a prey, determined to feed their chicks. And so far it seems to succeed.
Image
Correction: she did not bring a prey but is clearing away leftovers.
No, it IS a prey, but one of the chicks had it, she grabs it and starts feeding.(But she also did pick up and eat leftovers until she had her prey back.)

It happens all so quick, often it is impossible to see what does happen exactly.

And it is a large prey, enough for the 3 of them.

Prey finished, Mom finds a bone, goes down well

And more leftovers are there for her to find in the nest, she eats it all.

Feeding done, nest cleaned, female is panting.
She looks around her and leaves, chicks acutely fall silent.

Hurra, we have a branchling

Looks like these hawklets are going to have an incognito life, without rings :whistling:

Hello Bea, vaguely I seemed to remember it was called "branchling" but could not find a proper translation anywhere so decided to call it "branch-hopper" :whistling:
Thank you for the correct name.
Oh, and they are not ringed this year? But other years they were ringed? Maybe now already they are too grown up, might flee the nest on arrival of a human being.

Hi Timea :hi:

"Branch-hopper" also fits the situation for 100%

I was only assuming that these hawklets here would also get rings, as hawklets on the Tartumaa nest, which is streamed by RMK (Estonian State Forest Management), got rings. Both nests are streamed this season for the first time, so I have no experience from seasons before.

For me it also looks like it is too late now to ring them, I suppose they would make a jump start when a human comes too close to them.

Branchling jumps back onto the nest. Has been sitting upon the branch for a long time, completely at ease, but back now. In for a proper nap.

Hey, that's your sibling you are nibbling at :rotf: (probably a little piece of meat hidden in the feathers)
