Re: Suggest Names for Karula '22 Black Stork chicks
If storklets got such letters, they should get the names starting from these letters, even not Estonian. Although 10 years ago only Tommy got the right name.

What do you think of exceptionally giving W an Ukrainian name,
a significant one in this memorable year ?
W = Wolodymyr
I would like to point out that with Bonus, we also have a Bonus with a transmitter in Eedi's nest, here we should differentiate something with regard to "birdmap", following their migration route.
e.g.
Bonus KK
Bonus Ee
or
Bonus 1
Bonus 2
There is also an Ukrainian unisex name for V available:
V = Vira
(meaning: brave, heroic, wise)
X = Xeno (Susanne's proposal for X) is ok for me, also if we would leave it with just X

Balistar,
Urmas usually talks of Bonus (our Bonus) and Bonus2 (Eedis Bonus). Therefore I'd prefer to keep it this way.

This is a very sweet idea. However, just in case, there's an aspect which may be worth considering: I've heard that it is not advisable to give for example ships very "important" names, because ships are perishable (e.g. sinking Estonia - not a desirable symbol...). Anything can happen, and in the worst case scenario it can be used in propaganda.
Maybe Volodymyr for V? V cannot be tracked.

I like IKS ! Sounds good.
(The name of a radiologist living in my area is dr. Ickx. That's the place to go for X-rays. It's no joke. )

Trine, you're right, i haven't thought of that.
Maybe we could shorten it up to W = Wolo ?

Wolo is nice.
Xeno is ok, although I'd prefer Xeni.
(Xeno(s), Xenia have all the same root in greek.)
And V? Vicky? For Victor/ Victoria?
Or Vicco! Sounds like a male or female name.
Or Viiko. Which sounds more Estonian.
(Viico in Latin means "I travel".)

Were the chicks not temporarily named Bonus, Plus and Extra? This way Bonus could remain Bonus and the chick in Eedi's nest could be Plus. I think Extra was meant for no.3.Francesca_V wrote: ↑July 22nd, 2022, 10:25 pm Balistar,

It's probably a pointless question at this point, but why do the names have to be related to the number? Karl II's name starts with K although there is a C on the number. And there is also Kaia...
We call the chicks the K chicks.
So why can't the names start with K? As a relation to the nest.
(Plus there are many better variants in estonian starting with K...)

HI, Madlaa.
Yes, we do that in most years. There can't be many K names left now! This year is a little different.
