Kuremari is exploring Latvia, her/his native country.
At the last known location points, s/he is looking for food in a forested (maybe swampy?) area, north of Skutāneļmi.
Skutāneļmi is a little settlement in Dzelzava parish, Madona municipality. It is located in the northern part of the parish.
I wrote s/he because it is actually still unclear whether Kuremari is a female or a male.
Last year, MĀRIS STRAZDS wrote (on the Latvian forum):
‘Unfortunately, I cannot confirm conclusively that it is a female. According to the measurements at the time of ringing (on 4 July 2021) it might be a male - but this is not 100% certain, there is about 10-15% error for gender determination this way. DNA testing has not yet been carried out.’
And URMAS SELLIS wrote after fitting Kuremari with a transmitter in Haanja NP, in southern Estonia (on 24 July 2023):
‘I am not sure if she will breed in Estonia, but we will see (maybe next year). I wrote 'she' according to the measurements, but that is not 100% clear.’

Forest occupies around 3,729 ha of the nature reserve. Teiči Nature Reserve is one of the largest ecosystems of its kind in the Baltic area, and the bog itself is one of the largest in the Baltic states; according to information from Madona Municipality, the largest one.

This is an area where several nature reserves are located, and a lot of water (bogs, wetlands, ponds, lakes and streams) can be found, as well as forests.
