Hello goshawk fans!

It's great to see that the camera and forum are back up and running. Nice shots and detailed observations are starting to accumulate, and I hope that there will be a lot of them, because it’s not just exiting to watch but it is also providing important background information for GPS tracking and other research we carry out on goshawks in Tartu.

Ruudi still carries the GPS tag and it works fine. In fact, we tried trapping and tagging Alla as well, but she refused to wear a GPS :) Well, we appreciate her choice :) But thanks to this attempt, we discovered the new nest, so the camera was possible to move in time. The new nest is actually good news, because the supporting branches of the old nest were very weak and the increasing weight of the nest put it in increasing danger of falling. The new nest has strong supporting branches and is no longer in danger.

The couple builds a new nest. It was found by Ruudi's transmitter.

"Ruudi and Alla are known to have already built six nests, two of which were on a poplar tree while nesting in Raad and one on a sapling.
The test stand of the RMK nursery is already the third nest under construction. The first nest was located here on a larch, the second nest was built four years ago on a pine tree and has been known to watchers of the hen owl camera for two nesting seasons."
