Good Morning!
This morning, after 06:00 perhaps around 07:00 in the early morning (05:00-06:00 local time),
I saw one young stork flying away, the 2 others looked very surprised. I think it wasn't the tallest/oldest.
She made a short flight, about a minute, came back and landed nice.
A while later. both parents arrived with food.

The 5th fledgling was too weak and has died. The 4th fledgling was thrown by a foreign stork from the nest. The 3 others are okay.

Makov storks have five eggs and this must be good for all the five chicks!!!!
One stork is incubating, the other parent is walking around and a white heron is standing nearby.

Yes, I know. There is also a little pond near their nest, besides the birds are fed. Right now a mute swan is eating something near the pond.

I read it, while I think 3 eggs are enough (only in RS is more storklet not problem)asteria wrote:Yes, I know. There is also a little pond near their nest, besides the birds are fed. Right now a mute swan is eating something near the pond.

Not only in RS. Tiit and Tiina grew up four storklets in 2011, there were also four in Portugal nest in 2010.
Yet at the same time Kati got rid of her third storklet last year, Tobias also tried to throw the youngest one out of the nest. So it depends on the amount of food around the nest.
