Denmark, 17 February 2013: Ørnens Dag

Ørnens dag is the annual event where DOF (Dansk Ornitologisk Forening) or the raptor experts within DOF are inviting ordinary people to come and get information about eagles in the field.
In places where the chances to see eagles usually are big, some DOF members set up their telescopes and let the many interested visitors have a look.

UK, Isle of Lewis. 7.30pm on Thursday 7th March at the Bridge Centre, Stornoway. Presentation by Robin Reid (“The Return of the Sea Eagle to the Western Isles”) and launch of a new nature and wildlife group

Curracag (the Gaelic for lapwing) is the Western Isles Natural History Society. Now a new branch has been formed, aimed at anyone interested in the wildlife of Lewis and Harris. Mick Blunt, Area Manager for the John Muir Trust, and one of the people behind the new group, is keen to stress that you don’t need to be a boffin to join. “We’ve set up this Lewis and Harris branch of Curracag because we know how many islanders are fascinated by our wildlife. We want to provide an organisation where anyone, whether renowned expert or complete beginner, can come along, share their knowledge and find out more about our amazing natural world.”

Ireland: Mounsthannon harbour/Bushy Island. May-August 2013

“To protect and minimise disturbance to nesting White-tailed Eagles in the area, masters of vessels are requested to observe a voluntary exclusion zone by not encroaching within 250m of the island and to proceed directly in and out of Mounsthannon harbour without stopping near the island, particularly between the months of May and August inclusive.”
