The further events are really weird :banghead:

https://www.facebook.com/KisatchieNF/po ... u9yN7D6HHl
We have received word from the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine's Wildlife Hospital that the results from Anna (E-1 Female) were inconclusive as to whether Anna had Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI.) Upon learning this, the veterinarian went to retrieve Anna's body from the freezer to run a second test and learned that Anna's body had been incinerated. This news is very disappointing to us all as we really wanted to know what had made Anna ill. Based on clinical science and the symptoms she presented on New Year's Day, the veterinarian did say he believes Anna was infected with Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI.) Another female eagle from nest E-3, Andria, died earlier in December and we are still waiting on her necropsy results. We have called the facility in Georgia where she was sent and they do not have any results yet. These tests take weeks to perform and we were told once they reach a determination, Andria will be sent to another USDA facility for confirmation of the diagnosis, so this may take months before we receive any results. >sigh< 😞
We understand your frustration and disappointment, as we feel the same way. We have lost two beautiful mama eagles that we have all come to love and have no definitive answers as to what killed them. 😢 We will keep you posted when we do hear back about Andria's results. Meanwhile, in the next weeks, we will learn all we can about HPAI (how long does it linger, how is it spread, why some succumb and others do not, is there anything we can do to stop the spread, etc.) We will also continue to watch the happenings at E-1 and E-3. Looks like the new pair at E-3 may decide to move in permanently. ❤🦅❤ Watch Live cams here: https://www.youtube.com/@KNFcams/streams

Gabby (Gabrielle), who was once present when Juliet was evicted and entered into a breeding community with Samson (descendant of Romeo & Juliet) ... now disappears too.
It is a pity.
Back then, Gabby had shown herself to be the protector of the brood. Not as the attacker. If I remember correctly ... .

This breeding site has too many interested parties.

I hope, Gabby is fine.

Gabby might abandon the nest. It is also strange that she laid only one egg, maybe something went wrong.

Yes, there is a risk that the egg is lost. But at least not Gabrielle... :innocent:

NEFL Bald Eagles - Gabby and Beau

Gabby actually laid two eggs, unfortunately the first egg was accidentally buried by Beau. He didn't bury it on purpose, it just happened because he is inexperienced and does everything he has learned so far with great enthusiasm. So it happened that when he wanted to ventilate the bowl, he tore out a very large pile of grass and the poor egg rolled into the resulting depth. Unfortunately there was no way to dig it up again.

NEFL-chat #nightbot#
Gabby laid her first egg on December 19th at 6:16pm, the first egg was buried in the nest and has not resurfaced. Gabby laid the second egg on December 23 at 5:18pm.

Hi :hi: I saw it too.
I think this happened because of the brood losses in recent years.

Fingers are crossed for Jackie and Shadow that all went well this season.
