Good evening
kotkaklubi wrote: January 17th, 2021, 2:46 pm There is no infrmation about Tõnn after Dec 23th. Local birdwatchers (like Mehdi) did look last location of Tõnn but no results, yet.
Urmas
Do I understand correctly? ...
1. Mehmedi has already looked for Tönn?
2. Does that mean that we no longer receive any data from Tönn?
Have we lost our tone?

I always thought that Mr. Urmas has no time to update data and the Tönn would be in his winter quarters anyway ...

:hi: Sova, in my opinion:
1/ "Local birdwatchers (like Mehdi) did look last location of Tõnn": not Mehdi (or not only he) - other local birdwatchers
2/ transmitters sometimes wake-up
3/ there isn't his body (and/or the mortality data from transmitter) so we can still hoping and waiting for - good - news (maybe we have to wait until Tõnn arrives at his nest)

finger crossed very, very much!

Tõnn's transmitter already stopped working a few years ago and he got a new one. Now it may be the same thing. But to search for a bird with not working transmitter is not that easy.

In eBird there are many reports of GSE the last month in El Hondo but no comments about a sender on the back.
Here is a checklist with a picture of one that seems to have white plastic ring on the left foot:

07. February

I would very much like to know what happened to Tönn?
If the transmitter is damaged, the transmitter has insufficient battery (charge). Has the transmitter suddenly failed?
Didn't anyone watch Tönn (DanielD .... Mehdi)
Mr. Urmas, can you tell us something?

Hello Everybody
I was so sorry and worried to know that the transmitter stopped emitting. Early January, I could been to the place where exactly the gps stopped emitting, I spent there a time looking all around searching for any trace of Tõnn but unfortunally (or luckily!!) I didn't see him. It's a hunting zone, so I just hope that the transmitter stopped to work just because of technical problems and we could observe Tõnn very soon in his nest area.
I've also been searching for him in San Felipe and than in the old area where he often flew, but no luck…
I couldn't go back to El Hondo in all January because of the bad weather and than because of my work too, know because of Covid we can't go out from the city during week-end, so I'll try to go on a weekday next week, may be I'll be luckier.
Here are two videos of the place where exactly the gps stopped emitting

Yes, times are not easy at the moment. We hope it gets better.
And I hope, if you have the time and the weather is good, that you can find our Tönn.

Kind regards and thank you!

2016: useless transmitter
- Transmitter was giving information until the spring of 2014, after that we found Tõnn again on 30th of April in 2016 during spring field work with the Eagle Club. Back then we were not aware of exactly which spotted eagle with transmitter it was, but on the 8th of September we managed to catch Tõnn and identify him. We exchanged the old transmitter for a new and lighter one, and marked him with white plastic ring with a code 7X (birdmap info)
