As far as I know the Estonian Fund for Nature (Eestimaa Looduse Fond (ELF)) is working on the project of setting up the wildlife clinic. I'm sure they welcome project-related donations.

No news about the eagle lady, but today evening Estonian news had a story about an eagle to eagle blood transfusion: http://uudised.err.ee/v/eesti/759b4560- ... ec230ceaa7 - unfortunately only in Estonian. As far as I understand, the eagle was found with severe signs of poisoning, or an infectious disease. Instead of putting the eagle to sleep, they tried something new, an eagle to eagle blood transfusion. So far the sick eagle seems to be doing okay, feeding on rats, as it seems.

Hey,

Just reporting, that the Eagle, who got the transfusion is doing stable... I tested his flying skills in Saturday, but it did not last to long as the flying equipment broke down. Today we where able to do a full run... flying well, but does not have stamina (tires quickly). that is very normal as he as been pretty much to the end of the tunnel and back. Just lots of time and training, but it seems that he is getting slowly to the right directions. Have to say, he is an very spastic guy... tries to bite all the time.

I think what Dr. Madis meant is being shown tomorrow in Osoon:

You can find today's Osoon here: http://etv.err.ee/v/elusaated/osoon/saa ... b0695752b3 and the piece about the eagle starts at about 12:50.

Thanks to Dr. Madis for the hint!

Much more than that I also did not understand. I think they explained about the blood transfusion, which is very unique. But it was good to see the eagle fly free!

Juta gave a hint on an article about Black Stork "Valdur" (the older forum members will remember the name). He had to be caught because of an injury at a toe. Dr. Madis had to remove the toe, so gangrene can't settle in. Valdur was returned to wild after the procedure.

We found, that it is possible that not everyone can have a look at the galery in the bottom (like people in Estonia seem to be unable without paying)

And one more news item about Wildlife Veterinary Care. The Keskkonnaministeerium (ministry of the Environment) shared pictures on Facebook about a juvenile White-tailed Eagle, which was found walking on the ground, soaking wet. As it could not yet fly, and was hypothermic, it was taken to Dr. Madis' care and he managed to get it fit again and after some flight training the young eagle was released back into wild:

These are happy news! Thank you Bea! Dr. Madis makes a great work!
Are there any news from that eagle lady, which was injured by a wind mill? Have they found a place for her to live?

Congratulations to Dr. Madis on becoming, as Google Translator says, "best animal doctor of the year".

Unfortunately I could not find any English version of this article. The text GT provides is, as usual, a little ... strange.
