91.Schleswig-Holstein Gives Wind Farms Green Light. Germany, June 2013

Changes to planning rules for wind farms allows to place wind turbines close by the nesting sites of protected birds like White-tailed Eagle, White Stork, Black Stork, Red Kite, Black Kite and Peregrine Falcon, provided they do not harm the birds. If the developer provides evidence of security, wind power plants can be erected now for instance within a breeding area next to a White-tailed Eagle nest. The Government shortened also the evaluation period for the expert opinion (70 days instead of some years).

Starting July 12, details of the new arrangements can be found here: (Government of Schleswig-Holstein) http://www.schleswig-holstein.de/Portal ... _node.html Click on “Windkraft” ( Naturschutz, Forstwirtschaft, Jagd Eingriffsregelung Naturschutzrechtliche Eingriffsregelung Windkraft)
