Shouts can be heard in the distance

14:55 The male increases. An even larger branch is incorporated. It calls sharp.

The female can be heard close up with 'Gjak' and rapid tones. The male continues to build.

Yes, my goodness.... you are absolutely right!

I would like to gather more information about the nest etc. I think there will certainly be more input at some point. Everything is still at the beginning. :innocent:

February 28th

:hi:

06:57 Female flies into the nest, calls and nestles
Image

07:00 out, calls

07:04 male brings a larger bulky branch and works with it
Image

07:06 out

pairing

07:07 male back in in
07:08 Female approaches the nest with delicate sounds. The male leaves the nest.

07:12 Now the female out.

A crow groans

The female comes back to the nest again with recognition sounds. It brings another branch.

So a very busy morning.
The female builds very actively.

:hi:

From the YT chat, Urmas Abel:

This nest is located in Tartu city, we put the transmitter on the male in 2019, their names are Ruudi (male) and Alla (female).... this is the first nest of goshawks in Tartu. For now, we have two more couples in town ... under the nest there are frames used to grow forest seedlings...

07:43 The bearers of the transmitter?
Image

07:48 A series of sweet, soft noises begin. :innocent: The couple sits close.

07:52:14 - 19 Goshawk flies up a tree, breaks a branch (heard it cracking) and flies back down and away.

07:53:17 long, high-pitched tone from the nearby female Meanwhile, the male lands in the nest with a branch

07:54:03/04 Again the begging calls of the female, the male follows them.

07:54:38 Mating begins

08:00 /01 Alla squeaks.

It sounds like a tree groaning in the wind. I also heard this sound on H21.

The couple is consistent. Their first season? I do not think so.

08:08/09 Excited shouts can be heard in the distance.
08:10 Alla with long tones, followed by quick calls again. It seems the two feel pressured.

08:12 Both are still calling.

08:52 Ruudi is back in the nest, slightly nervous.
Image

Image

A Jay calls - no, it's two.
One of them is near the nest tree. Ruudi looks over the edge of the nest, observes. Alla chirps close to him.

Ruudi leaves the nest after a nearby crack is heard. Alla...

09:09 Ruudi comes and goes.

10:38 He lands a little excited in the nest, calls energetically.
skirt :innocent:
Image

10:40 The cracking is very close again and Ruudi follows ... Alla.

pairing (at least the second so far)

Camera and picture are not quite consistent. The mating noises were already playing when Ruudi was still on his way to Alla.

12:10 Ruudi presses the bottom of the nest.
Image

While he continues to build the nest, Alla begs him to come to her.
Image

She doesn't take a break... :D

12:11 mating sounds again
Should it be completed matings, this would be at least mating number five today.

14:10 The siesta is over.
Alla can be heard nearby ... long drawn out call. :innocent:

14:20 Ruudi does not seem to be present? Alla now calls demandingly. Long beep followed by a kicker.

But ....
14:24 Ruudi and Alla tweet.
Fast calls ... 'Gjak' ... everything included.

14:25 Ruudi in the nest

Alla lures while he works.

Mating number 6 soon?

Yes, it would be possible according to the sounds. :D
Short mating noises 14:31.

Alla apparently prefers to give orders from outside these days.
After a busy morning, Alla has been heard ever since - clear, demanding ... unmistakably.

Ruudi euphorically continues to build the nest, while Alla's calls irritate his efficiency somewhat. In the end he surrenders to the seduction and flies to Alla with a tender 'Gjak'.

14:54

He is good! The Nest constantly shifts from slightly chaotic to fantastic.
It looks completely different from the nest of our Latvian H - team.

I would be interested to know how long the nest has existed. Was it newly built or expanded/renovated?

17:01 Fast calls again after a long break. energetic.

17:02 Unmistakably to hear Alla
17:06, '09, '11 - 14 Alla again
Ruudi seems busy.
Alla keeps calling.

Well, at some point I could distinguish H21 and H44 vocally. It will take a while for Ruudi and Alla.

It is fascinating, however, that Alla also uses the call type of begging very often. H21 (albeit much younger than Alla) started at a later stage and only occasionally. In the literature at that time I only found the indication that sometimes (!) females also use this call form to encourage their partner to take care of them.

So it seems to happen often. Or it's coincidence.

March 1st

:hi:

Ruudi and Alla have good timing and don't waste any time.

06:39 Ruudi in the nest.
Alla gives a sign and Ruudi follows.

Pairing

06:43 back...stands, looks around and starts fumbling.
Ruudi is still a bit sluggish and dreamy.

He misplaces some sticks.
out in '49.

07:12 Ruudi brings a small pine branch. He leaves him, leaves the nest.

07:20 to hear Alla with high whistles, begging calls and kickers.

07:21 Alla with small branch.
Nesteln ... look a lot, get out.

Nest status - slightly messy

08:20 Probably Ruudi - seen and heard below the nest

08:21 Ruudi in
He turns in all directions and checks the surroundings. Alla is calling with beging sounds
Out in '23.

Pairing
