Thank you again for all your support this season for the camera appeal.
We've honestly never seen such beautiful moving pictures from an osprey nest. Absolutely stunning.
Here's our first few glimpses of Bobby Bach this morning:

Today is DAY 35 for Egg 3, so we're eggspecting some cracking pictures on the Live Streaming today.
At 08:45 this morning, Telyn removed the body of Chick 2 from the nest. Many ospreys seem to know, instinctively, to do this.
Rest in peace, little fella.

HOLY MULLETS!
This must be one the largest fish we've ever seen caught at this nest. Looks like Idris has dropped it a couple of times too.
Not surprised. The boy can't half catch whoppers; that mullet must weight at least as much as him?

You know, in every language there are the odd words that are not directly translatable to other languages.
In Welsh we have a fantastic word that describes that dozing state between being awake and properly asleep.
We call it 'Pendympio'
Just like this...

We have some fantastic news to share about the Friends of the Ospreys Pont Croesor Nest.
Today it is day 40 since the first egg was laid and we now believe that a chick has hatched on the nest.

WE HAVE A BOY AND A GIRL!
Bobby Mawr is a boy, ring number Blue 490, and he weighs 1600g. We've called him DYSYNNI.
Bobby Bach is a girl, ring number Blue 491 and she weighs 1690g. We've named her YSTWYTH.
Despite being four days younger, Ystwyth already weighs 90g (+6%) more than her brother - which is exactly what you'd expect.
Thank you for all your name suggestions and thanks to Tony Cross for another professional ringing operation.
A blog, a Posh Pete video and the ringing video will be coming your way in the coming days, but for now, say 'Hello' to Dysynni (left) and his 'big' younger sister Ystwyth 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Here is the 2021 ringing video – many thanks to Tony Cross once again. Brilliant job. Thanks also to Richard Rees for the GoPro HeadCam footage.
Music: Ar lan yn Mor – a traditional Welsh folk song – sang by Bryn Terfel.

This is the process we go through to pick names for our chicks every year - named after Welsh rivers and lakes.
