Re: Black Eagles Nest in South Africa
July 31st
Today is Jono's second day without food. Emoyeni brought only greenery, I haven't seen Thulane.
Jono is very hungry and even tried to eat a big feather.

He/she asked Emoyeni for food and eventually snuggled under mom for the night.

It's today's story...
In the morning Jono was very hungry and all the time squealed for food (didn't eat anything since around 14 on July 29th)
Emeyeni flew away at 10:12 and was back with the prey (dassie =rock hyrax) at 14:04 nest time. Jono mantled the prey.
But Emoyeni started to feed Jono just at 14:37, she was being very careful with an eye out for Thulane, he was close. The hackles raised on Emoyeni and she protected food. Thulane had no chance to steal.
After feeding Jono's crop was nicely filled.

I still compare Jono with Nessi. Nessi at age 50 days spent for the first time the night alone. Jono is 53 days old and Emoyeni is in the nest for night.

Today were two food deliveries: guinea fowl in the morning and rock rabbit at dusk. As yesterday was no food, Jono was hungry and ate big part of the bird (huge crop in the evening)
First time since August 8th Emoyeni stayed in nest for the night to guard the prey together with Jono, which was lying on it.

Fledging takes place between 90 and 105 days, so it is closer and closer for Jono.
