I read earlier on the DOF chat that the old couple would have moved to this new location. So you think that the couple in the new nest is another pair? And the old male is the one shown in the old nest today 5/5?
Could the couple in the old nest today have been the same pair as in the new nest?

No, there is only 1 couple in the territory.
I do not know when the new female has arrived.
I am quet sure that there is only 1 couple of adult WTEs in the territory.
The new female might have chosen a new tree to set up a new nest.
It looks as if the new nest is too smal for breeding, yet.
Some WTEs built new nests in the territory once in a while and uses them for breeding.

I have followed Bald Eagles in SW Florida for years. They built a "reserve nest" little by little and increased it when one eaglet didn't want to leave the territory (E15 stayed for more than 200 days) - the parents maybe meant that the old nest couldn't be used for forthcoming offspring. Happily the eaglet at last left and they chose to nest in the old cam nest and the "reserve nest" has been used by owls since then (a trouble for eagles for other reasons). As far I have understood eagles can build their "reserve nests" for different reasons.

This is the most usual view I see when I switch on the cam, a beautiful landscape but no eagles.


I suppose there is no duty at the cam this season, nobody following continuously what happens.
I am looking forward to the promised article of the life status around the nests.

MAY 10.

Yesterday evening from 8 to 9 o´clock there were lots of WTEs warning calls. And also this morning 2 times around 08.30.
It seems that there are more than 2 eagles around.
At the moment there is no sound from the camera.

MAY 25.

The camera is now directed at a nest of hooded crow and to the East with the bay view during the night.
Signal from Romme 2020 has been missing since May 1. - where it took another journey to Vorpommern, Germany.
Another danish young eagle Lisbeth from 2022 has travelled 1760 km north during April and May 2023.

JUNE 2.

Romme 2020 was in Zingst, Germany on the 30. of April.
Then Romme was not on the map for all May.
But today we can see that Romme was back near the nest on the 2. of May.
And some of its moves until the 18. of May is on the map.
Something is wrong with the transmission from the transponder or somewhere else
Rommes moves during May 2023 or at least some of its journey.

Romme 2020 was in Zingst, Germany on the 30. of April.
Then Romme was not on the map for all May.
But today we can see that Romme was back near the nest on the 2. of May.

JULY 31.

Romme from 2020 has been seen in the territory several times by Rasmus, who lives near by. He has seen a WTE with rings an a transmitter on the back. The transmitter is out function.
And Rasmus has news about the local WTEs around the nest:

"3 times this week I have seen an eagle with a GPS transmitter on its back, which is probably the eagle Romme. Tuesday at Hyllekrog - Thursday and Saturday nearby at Lyttesholm Nature Center
Could clearly see the gps on the back and the rings on the legs
Unfortunately I didn't have a camera with me.

The new breeding pair is regularly seen in the area and occasionally in the old nest."

July 31.

Danish WTE Lisbeth from 2022 went to the northern part of Norway in May.
And it has been in the Vadsø area all June and July.
In June Lisbeth stayed to the West of Vadsø and in July to the East of Vadsø.
Her is Lisbeths travel during July.

SEP 4.

CAMERA IS NOW SWITCHED OFF FOR 2023.

Danish wte Lisbeth from 2022 started its migration back south from the Vadsø area, Northern Norway on the 6. of August.
After a 2 months stay.
And are now back in the southern part of Sweden
