Maybe I was wrong about the jackdaws' intentions.
The jackdaws now begin to bring their own material after they have cleared the box of small fine branches from the pigeons. Thicker branches are brought in now.

While the pigeons retreat to Box 2.

If the tawny owls decide to breed in box 1 or 2, things can get tricky.
I remember the drama in the Barn owl's nest in Israel. That wasn't nice to watch.

Depending on how everything develops, I may look for a different location for any documentation.

There is movement in the house...
There were two nightly visits today. :shake:

I have to admit that I'm not sure if it's Bella or Copper. My first impulse was Copper.

Later, Bella and Copper are on the box together. I'm seeing Copper for the first time today. :innocent:
I can't tell if Copper is delivering loot to Bella.

In any case, there are kisses. :2thumbsup:


Bella doesn't say goodbye to Copper very nicely.... :laugh:

06:29 Very early for her other habits, Bella is in the crate. Bella immediately lies down in a corner as well. Otherwise she wanders a bit in the box and then stands in front of the exit. Not today.

Is Bella particularly exhausted or will she lay her first egg?

The view quickly changed.
Bella sits like a spherical little winter bird. :innocent: For me currently no sign of a coming egg. Bella is very relaxed, sleepy.

March 18th

Already on March 14th the waiting for an egg and the confusion in boxes 1 and 2 came to an end.
The last interested parties in Box1, which had been orphaned until then, were jackdaws that had previously driven away pigeons.

The ones in the box started building after the female tawny owl didn't come back...yeah really a mess and coming and going. :slap:
The jackdaws' nesting material was removed by humans. Which I didn't like so much. I think we humans should stay away from breeding grounds as much as possible. Especially since the female had already been expelled in January and the tawny owl pair was still close by.

But okay - it went well.
There are now 2 eggs in box 1. :headroll:
