Saturday the 6th of January, 7:00 AM. E23 wants breakfast. A storm is getting ready to move through the area and high winds can be heard. E23 stands and flaps it's wings like it's parents do. Wants to be a big Eagle, too!

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

E23 got a big piece of fish and a bone in the mouth yesterday. And the wise M15 came to rescue and pulled them out, super dad!

Lots to eat last night. F23 and M15 both join in the meal and also feed E23, too. E23 is getting all the food it needs for sure.

That was an Opossum! Much larger than a rat and it's a marsupial. The only marsupial in the United States.

Aha, I see. I saw remains of an animal with a tail without fur and thought it was a rat.

Yes, they have a prehensile tail that is very much like a rat's only a lot thicker and longer, of course. They hang from trees and eat fruit at night. They are a really lovely animal. They can look very fierce but they are our friends. They eat ticks, grub worms and all manner of nasty things and clear the environment of these things and even decaying corpses but they love cat and dog food. lol. They also have a body temperature that is too low to support rabies so they never get that nor do they carry it. I hear they won't bite even if they are growling and hissing and I've had them show their teeth to me and hiss but I sure wouldn't want to pick one up that was acting that bad. I would be sure I was going to be bitten.

Yes, E23 got first "adult" dark feathers. Soon he/she changes the color from light grey to almost black like Cal and Luza from Captiva,
