1.Alarming rise in wildlife crime in Schleswig-Holstein. Germany, January 2016

Between 2008 and 2015 there were 30 proven raptor poisoning cases – among the victims nine White-tailed Eagles, three red kites and fife common buzzards.

3.White-tailed Eagles in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Population development and mortality factors. Germany, January 2016

According to the newspaper SVZ, the Ministry for Environment and Nature Conservation in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania submittet recently these information on White-tailed Eagles:
395 eagles found dead in the field were examinated between 1990 and 2014. The main mortality factors were lead intoxication (31%), collisions (23%), intra-specific conflicts (12%) and infectious diseases (6%). With a total of 364 breeding pairs, 2015 has been a record breaking year for White-tailed Eagles in the coastal federal state. Birds from this Baltic area turned up in Bavaria (South Germany) and in the Netherlands.

7.White-tailed Eagle died on the Isle of Pellworm. Germany, January 2016

The bird was found dead last August. A necropsy has now revealed that the eagle died of lead poisoning.

11.Female eagle found dead. Germany, February 2016

The nesting bird was shot and killed in its nest near Cuxhaven, Lower Saxony. There are 44 breeding pairs in the county. According to the article, a 5000 Euro reward is being offered by the WWF and the NABU for information leading to the charging of those responsible for killing the eagle. The youngster, born in 2014 n the Dutch The Biesbosch National Park, was emaciated and displayed signs of poisoning when he was found last week.
