[quote="Liz01"]Zile and Ozols 2016 important events at nest

Liz :hi: , many thanks for the important events list.... If I understand well you think that the first female (who lost the battle) was our "old" Zile from the last year. Am I right? I ask because I have thought till this time that it was a unknown young female (not very experienced). And that the old Zile was not involved in this year at all :headroll: . But I know you are an excellent observer  therefore I would like to know your opinion. Thanks.

Sue :hi:
you have correctly understood me.
In the beginning I thought, that the first female is young and not very experienced.
It is generally very difficult to say anything, because none of the storks has a ring.
The Zile 2016 was clearly a very young female. She had brown feathers.
It may be, that both were not Zile. But Ozols appeared with the "strange lady" very familiar. So I thought often, that it is the "old" Zile.
later, when Ozols had chicks, he was clearly in his behavior and has "the old Zile" expelled from his habitat.

Maybe next year comes a stork with ring. That would be great.

Liz, thanks for your explanation. It can be in this way... (I know it is difficult to tell when they have no rings :headroll: ). And we will see what brings next season to this nice nest :shake: .

Now I wish to Raivis and Raitis/Rasa a happy journey and always enough food and the same to their great parents  .

And thank you very much again for all your documentation here. :2thumbsup:

At the beginning, there was a time with the old Zile. I remember that I even wrote about it but then the problem with the Trio started and we lost it... we didn't really understand what was going on.
I wish that one day... it'll be possible to "ring" or put another sign on the adult birds on the nests, with a remote controlled device

Thanks to Liz for her great work and to everybody for being together in this lovely season. :hi:
Though I hate to disturb birds to have them tagged and ringed and being provided with transmitters, I start to think it's reasonable to do so in order to understand who is who, what happens during migration, who comes back, how they make pairs and how often they change partners, etc. A big THANK YOU to all the ornithologists and volunteers for their work.

The big parent branch is broken. A big branch blocks the view. It all looks dangerous.
That is why Vērotāja wrote to Māra Strazda. Thank you, Vērotāja :2thumbsup:

They will go into the forest and examine the situation
Vērotāja wrote:Saņēmu vēstuli no Māra Strazda:

Iekārušos zaru svētdien mēģinās novākt, pareizāk sakot, novāks, taču ir ļoti liels risks, ka zars noies zemē ar visu ligzdu - kura šobrīd turas uz nekā - jo 1,5m no galvenā zara, kas to balstīja, ir zemē. Ja nu tas notiks, tad tur uztaisīs mākslīgo ligzdu, tam palīdzība nav vajadzīga un laiks pietiks.
I can not really translate it properly.
But I understand, however, when help is needed, they will build m a new platform :2thumbsup:
lianaliesma wrote:Super! Tieši tas, kas vajadzīgs- jauna stipra ligzda! :D

Hello everybody !

Liz, that looks dangerous, you are right. :puzzled:
And a further branch from above has fallen down.

I am curious, what they will do.
